The Dodgers activated Matt Kemp from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Kemp, who is hitting .254 with four homers and 24 RBI in 61 games, was placed on the DL after injuring his left shoulder. Earlier this year, the 28-year-old missed 24 games with a right hamstring strain.
The Dodgers sent Scott Van Slyke to Triple-A Albuquerque, N.M., to make room for Kemp.
With Kemp's return, Yasiel Puig found himself out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals. The Cuban phenom is hitless in his last nine at-bats with five strikeouts.
Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier started alongside Kemp in the outfield.
