LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned shortstop Dee Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled outfielder Scott Van Slyke.
The streaking NL West leaders made the moves before opening a seven-game road trip in Philadelphia on Friday night.
Gordon went 5 for 14 in six games since the Dodgers recalled him Aug. 5, but also made three errors at shortstop during their victory over Tampa Bay last Sunday. Regular shortstop Hanley Ramirez returned to the Dodgers' lineup Wednesday after sitting out nine games with an injured right shoulder.
Gordon is batting .208 during his stints with Los Angeles this season.
Van Slyke is getting his fourth stint with the Dodgers this season. He is batting .242 with six homers and 15 RBIs in 36 games for Los Angeles.

Reliever Brian Wilson is already with the Dodgers in Philadelphia, and it’s widely expected that he’ll be activated as soon as today, so it’s worth taking a look at what fans should realistically expect from him going forward.
In four rehab appearances between A+ and AAA, Wilson has pitched four and a third innings, struck out three, walked none, and gave up one hit. All in...
The Dodgers completed the Drew Butera trade, sending 19-year-old southpaw Miguel Sulbaran to Minnesota.
Chad gave info on Sulbaran and thoughts on the trade here.
Personally, I think it’s a complete win for the Twins and another terrible Ned Colletti trade.
John Baker was outrighted from the 40-man roster, which opens up a spot, so the current count sits at 39.
When the term "unhittable" is thrown around, it sometimes comes across a bit hyperbolic. Yes, guys like Felix Hernandez and Justin Verlander (well, maybe not this season) are for the most part, unhittable.
When one thinks of the most unhittable pitches in baseball, a few come to mind right away:
Adrian Gonzalez has a team from each of his hometowns in the Little League World Series.
The Mexico entry is from the Tijuana Municipal Little League, where Gonzalez played as a youngster. The United States West entry is from Eastlake Little League of Chula Vista, in the area to which Gonzalez moved and attended high school.
"They're like four miles apart," Gonzalez...
Vin Scully, the inimitable Dodgers broadcaster, has begun to use the term "Magic Castle" to describe Dodger Stadium, and isn't that just perfect?
For the past seven dreamy days, Chavez Ravine was a wondrous place where nothing was impossible and where amazing things seemed to happen routinely.
There is really no explanation for what the Dodgers are doing -- and for...
With Sept. 1 quickly approaching, the Dodgers will have some difficult roster decisions to make, most of which pertain to the bullpen.
For players to be eligible for the postseason roster, they
have to be on the active roster before 9 p.m. on Aug. 31. This also includes
players on the disabled list.
Brian Wilson is likely going to be promoted to the Major
And they say athletes don’t read their own press clippings … Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is on the cover of the sports issue of “Hollywood Reporter,” and he shared a photo on Instagram of himself reading the magazine (or at least holding it up and looking like he was reading). Just something about […]
It was late, you didn't watch it and then, LA Dodger Ryu Hyun Jin smacked Juan Uribe.

(Eds: Adds details, quotes. With AP Photos.) By BETH HARRIS AP Sports Writer The Los Angeles Dodgers are in rare territory, putting up jaw-dropping numbers while piling up victories and commanding a 7 1/2-game lead in the NL West.
Ahead or behind, against NL or AL teams, the Dodgers are rolling merrily along, owning an eight-game winning streak and undefeated in their last 16 series...
The Dodgers did not win on a walk-off home run by Carlos Marmol in his first at-bat in five years.
But they almost did and that was as deliciously devilish as the way they actually did earn the latest of their daily victories.
That would be Yasiel Puig Living Legend.
Puig made a breathtaking throw then topped himself by willing a double to start the 12th inning. Adrian Gonzalez...
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly summed it up nicely after Clayton Kershaw became the latest Los Angeles starter to shut down the sinking Phillies.
"Kershaw's pretty good," Mattingly said.
The young ace pitched eight dominant innings and the seemingly unstoppable Dodgers won their 10th straight Saturday night, beating Philadelphia 5-0 to keep the Phillies scoreless in...
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Zack Greinke pitched three-hit ball into the eighth inning and Hanley Ramirez homered to lead the streaking Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-0 victory over new manager Ryne Sandberg and the slumping Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
