LOS ANGELES Hanley Ramirez is going to be taking a seat on the Dodgers bench, at least for a few days. Ramirez has an irritated nerve in his back, which the Dodgers said Friday was causing tightness in his left hamstring. The team said the result of an MRI was no different from an MRI Ramirez had in the same area in 2011, which was the result of sciatica. Ramirez received a cortisone injection and will not return to the lineup before next week, the Dodgers said. Before Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants, manager Don Mattingly indicated he would take a cautious route before allowing the shortstop back on the field. "Definitely," he said. "I think we'll be careful with him as far as, when he gets back out there, he's feeling like we're on the other side of this." Ramirez was removed from Thursday's game before the start of the seventh inning after telling trainers he felt tightness in his hamstring. Its been a lingering p...

Dodgers' Hanley Ramirez leaves with hamstring strain

The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled Hanley Ramirez out of last night's game with what they are describing as a mild hamstring strain.  The clubs made the move almost entirely as a precautionary measure.  Ramirez seemed to be fine after the game, but he did not talk with reporters about the injury. Austin Laymance of MLB.com says Ramirez was able to walk quickly through the clubhouse...

Dodgers' Matt Kemp could return by end of September

There was talk earlier this week that the Los Angeles Dodgers could be without outfielder Matt Kemp for the remainder of the season. While you can't account for setbacks, especially when Kemp is involved, that no longer appears to be the projection. Kemp ran for the first time since aggravating his hamstring last week, and the Dodgers plan on having him resume running the bases...

Andre Ethier sits for Dodgers with ankle soreness

On Friday night, Andre Ethier was forced out of the Los Angeles Dodgers' loss to the San Francisco Giants with an ankle injury he aggravated while making the turn from first to second on a double. That ankle kept him out of Saturday night's lineup, with Dan Arritt of ESPNLosAngeles.com reporting that Ethier had 'increased soreness' in his left ankle on Saturday...

Dodgers' Andre Ethier leaves game with ankle injury

Andre Ethier pulled up gimpy Friday night against the San Francisco Giants according to Austin Laymance and Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. He proceeded to limp off the field during a pitching change and was replaced by a pinch runner. Ethier doubled in the eighth inning, but as he reached second he stopped on the bag and bent over with hands on knees. Assistant trainer Nancy Patterson...

Podcast: 'Dugout Blues' episode 55 - Dodgers, Uribe, Guerrero, Garcia

On this episode of "Dugout Blues," Jared Massey (Dodger Diamond) and I talk about the humbling sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds. And no, it's not the end of the world. Giants rally to beat Kershaw, Dodgers 4-2

For one charmed night the Giants had the Midas touch. In a 4-2 victory Friday against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers every break went the Giants' way from a meek swing by Brett Pill that scored two runs to the Adrian Gonzalez shot that deflected off Sergio Romo's foot and somehow ended the game. They made their own luck too with six excellent innings from Madison Bumgarner...
