Troy Tulowitzki lined a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting the Colorado Rockies to a 5-4 win and dealing a haymaker to the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers
The loss cuts the Los Angeles lead in the NL West down to only two games over Colorado, who was 15 ½ games back in June.
In a game of back-and-forth, there was certainly the feeling of October baseball in the air on this August night at Coors Field.
The Dodgers (74-52) trailed the Rockies (72-54) 4-2 going into the ninth, but rallied to score two runs to tie the game.
Down to their final out and final strike, Manny Ramirez lined a two-out, two-strike RBI single to tie the game at 4-4 and force extra-innings.
Ramirez was 1-for-11 in his past three games and had just one RBI in his past 11 games before going 2-for-4 tonight.
Before the game see-sawed in the late-innings, Clayton Kershaw and Jason Hammel locked up in an excellent pitcher’s duel, each clawing their way to a no decision.
