BALTIMORE (AP) -- Mark Ellis drove in three runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat erratic Jake Arrieta and the Baltimore Orioles 7-4 Sunday to snap a six-game losing streak.
Matt Kemp singled in the go-ahead run during a four-run fifth inning, and the Dodgers received a solid performance from their bullpen in the finale of the three-game interleague series.
Making his fourth start of the season, Arrieta (1-1) allowed only two singles in four-plus innings. But he walked five -- three of whom scored -- and hit a batter, who also came home.
Adam Jones homered for the Orioles and Chris Davis had three hits.
Before the game, the Dodgers put scheduled starter Craig Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness and recalled Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place on the mound. Billingsley, who finished last season with soreness in the same elbow, will return to Los Angeles on Tuesday for further medical evaluation.
It was another blow to the strug...

Ted Lilly will make his first start of the season on Wednesday, replacing the injured Chris Capuano, who had replaced the injured Zack Greinke.
Ted Lilly will start Wednesday night’s game against the Mets, manager Don Mattingly confirmed Friday. Lilly replaces the injured Chris Capuano, who previously replaced the injured Zack Greinke.
“That’s our plan,” said Mattingly. “Obviously...
Ah, Jake Arrieta.
If you bring up his name to a lot of Orioles fans, it often does not conjure up good thoughts at all.
Sunday’s game was a case exhibit for that opinion.
I saw the self-destruction of Arrieta live and in person at the Yard; however, before the game against the Dodgers, I and several season ticket holders in my respective section pondered how many...
On Sunday, Justin Sellers tried showing off to Dodgers teammates that he knows how to roll a joint. I am unaware of the fundamentals myself, but Justin looks pretty experienced.
Just say no, Justin.
It’s not a good time to be a pitcher for the Dodgers. With Zack Greinke and Chris Capuano already on the shelf with injuries, you thought things couldn’t get much worse for the Blue Crew until word came out that Chad Billingsley had to be placed on the 15 day DL with elbow soreness. That’s terrible news for Billingsley, in particular, because he was making an attempt to come...
MLB News: The Baltimore Orioles have optioned pitcher Jake Arrieta to Triple-A Norfolk after having struggled this season. And when we say struggled, he posted a 6.63 earned run average and 16 walks in 19 innings.
Fantasy Ramifications: He has a solid arm as he also struck out 20 hitters, but until that control is a non-issue, he will always be considered a scrap heap when he is...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed right-hander Chad Billingsley on the disabled list with right elbow soreness, leaving them short of options for their starting rotation over the next couple of weeks.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reported that manager Don Mattingly was concerned that the discomfort was linked to last year's problem, when Billingsley missed the last two months...
Kenley Jansen is possible the best non-closer reliever in the game. He had already recorded four outs and then the Dodgers brought in Paco Rodriguez and Ronald Belisario. They did not pitch like Kenley Jansen. With the game tied at 5, the following happened:
Rodriguez only got a shot at the AL home run leader, Chris Davis, before Belisario came in. The total damage: 2...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed starting pitcher Chad Billingsley on the 15-day DL with pain in his right elbow. Billingsley's right elbow has been a source of frustration for Billingsley over the past year, as he only made eight starts after the All-Star Break last season due to an inflammed flexor tendon and a partially torn UCL in the elbow.
Going into the season,...
Well, the Dodgers got healthy on Sunday, and I’m getting healthy today.
The Dodgers dropped the first two games of the series in Baltimore. After Friday night’s rainout, 7-5 and 6-1 losses bookended a day-night double header that saw the Dodgers get out to a 4-0 lead in Game 1 featuring a 3 run shot off the bat of Andre Ethier and pretty much not gain much offensive traction...
The Dodgers played twice, and lost twice, in their doubleheader today against the Orioles and have now dropped six games in a row to fall within a game and a half of last place in the NL West.
The Dodgers on Sunday placed right-hander Chad Billingsley on the
disabled list with elbow pain, an ominous sign for a pitcher who
has been trying to avoid Tommy John surgery.
BALTIMORE -- Nolan Reimold homered and hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the eighth inning as the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-5 Saturday in the first game of a split-doubleheader.
Playing in Baltimore for the first time since 2002, the Dodgers took a 4-0 lead in the second inning. But South Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu couldn't hold the advantage...
Off to a slow start and with a banged-up rotation, the Los Angeles Dodgers really need ace Clayton Kershaw to be at his best.
That certainly didn't happen in his latest outing.
Kershaw now faces one of the NL's top offenses - but also a team he's dominated - on Tuesday night when the Dodgers follow their first win in a week with a three-game set against the New York...
Nick Markakis singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.
Toronto reliever Aaron Loup (1-2) began the ninth by hitting Chris Davis with a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt, Steve Pearce popped out and Nolan Reimold received an intentional walk before Alexi Casilla...
After having their brief winning streak snapped, the Baltimore Orioles look get back on track and continue their recent home dominance over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Orioles will try for their eighth win in 10 home meetings with the Blue Jays in the opener of a three-game series Monday night.
Although Adam Jones homered and Chris Davis stayed hot, the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied...
