The Dodgers are still upset a day after their brawl with the Arizona Diamondbacks, with much of their ire directed toward pitcher Ian Kennedy. Kennedy hit Los Angeles rookie Yasiel Puig and pitcher Zack Greinke with high pitches, and a day later the Dodgers were still taking exception to where they were thrown. Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly says he doesn't think Kennedy hit Puig deliberately. The ball deflected off the young slugger's shoulder and grazed his nose. But Mattingly said Kennedy meant to hit Greinke. The ball deflected off his helmet and struck his upper left shoulder. The teams met in the series finale on Wednesday night, one night after their nasty fight led to six ejections. No discipline by Major League Baseball was expected to be announced until at least Thursday.

Yasiel Puig drilled in face by Ian Kennedy’s pitch

Things could get ugly soon in this Dodgers- Arizona Diamondbacks game as the LA’s new superstar, Yasiel Puig, was drilled in the face by a 92 mph pitch by Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy. Puig managed to stay in the game but probably not something LA management and Dodgers retail stores will ever want to see. Next inning: Greinke retaliates and ends up hitting Miguel Montero.

Dodgers still upset at D-backs for fight

The Dodgers are still upset with the Diamondbacks after their benches-clearing brawl. They still feel like some codes were violated.

Dodgers, Diamondbacks brawl

Ian Kennedy hit Yasiel Puig and Zack Greinke with pitches, sparking a heated brawl that involved players and coaches and resulted in five ejections in a game in which the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 Tuesday night. Kennedy, Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson and coach Turner Ward, along with Puig and Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire were ejected...

Puig's rage in brawl a bad sign?

Upon further review regarding the Dodgers-Diamondbacks melee, I'm more worried about Yasiel Puig, less worried about Zack Greinke and astonished that baseball doesn't ban bench-clearing brawls. I'm more worried about Puig, not only because he injured his throwing (punching?) shoulder in Tuesday night's donnybrook, but also because was out of control during the fight...

Sources explain reasoning for D-backs-Dodgers penalties

You want answers, Ive got answers, courtesy of sources familiar with the suspensions that baseball issued Friday for the Dodgers-Diamondbacks brawl. Why only 10 games for Diamondbacks right-hander Ian Kennedy? Kennedy threw at Zack Greinkes head after the umpires issued warnings to both clubs. Its certainly fair to ask why Kennedys penalty likely will amount to him missing only...

D-backs upset, confused by brawl suspensions

SAN DIEGO -- The mood in the Diamondbacks clubhouse was one of disbelief bordering on anger after Ian Kennedy and Eric Hinske received the most serious suspensions from Tuesday's massive brawl with the Dodgers. Kennedy was suspended for 10 games and Hinske for five, while Dodgers players J.P. Howell and Skip Schumaker were suspended for two games apiece. Kennedy and Hinske plan...

Bench clearing brawl between Arizona Diamondbacks & LA Dodgers

The Dodgers and the Diamondbacks had a mini brawl on Tuesday night. The meleé was a result of two  Dodgers players being hit with pitches. Rookie,  Yasiel Puig was at bat when he was hit in the face with a pitch during the sixth inning by Ian Kennedy. Later, starter Zack Greinke was hit with a high pitch. Six players and coaches were ejected before the Dodgers rallied to beat...

A day later, Dodgers are still mad

The Dodgers remained upset Wednesday about their brawl with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and much of their ire was directed toward pitcher Ian Kennedy. Kennedy hit Los Angeles rookie Yasiel Puig and pitcher Zack Greinke with high pitches Tuesday night, and a day later the Dodgers were still taking exception to where they were thrown. ''Anything like that is going to leave...

Beanballs set off lengthy Dodgers-Diamondbacks brawl

As far as baseball brawls go Tuesday night's up-close-and-personal between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks was a pro-wrestling cage fight. First,  Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig was plunked by a pitch in the face by Ian Kennedy then, after Zack Greinke plunked Miguel Montero, Kennedy plunked Greinke high on the shoulder with a 92 mph fastball setting off a seventh...

A Brief And Obvious Point (and Questions) about Dodgers v. DBacks and Zack Greinke

Not His Year "If he doesn't do that, he loses a lot of respect in the clubhouse. It's more dangerous for him not to do that than to do that." - Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, about starting pitcher Zack Greinke hitting Miguel Montero in retaliation for DBack pitcher Ian Kennedy hitting Yusiel Puig Um, Don?  I realize it's been a long season, and you are...

Dodgers, Diamondbacks Brawl in Los Angeles as Mark McGwire, Yasiel Puig Among Those Ejected (Video)

Don’t mess with a $147 million pitcher. There will be retaliation. Before Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy hit counterpart Dodgers starter Zack Greinke, three other batters had been hit in Tuesday night’s contest between Arizona and Los Angeles. When Kennedy threw one up and in that plunked Greinke high on the shoulder, well, that was all it took. Arizona’s Cody Ross...

Dugout Digest - brawl!

There was a pretty crazy brawl during the Diamondbacks-Dodgers game last night. The issues erupted in the sixth inning, after Ian Kennedy hit Yasiel Puig in the face. Zack Greinke retaliated by hitting Miguel Montero, and that should have been that after the benches cleared. But in the bottom of the seventh, Kennedy threw at Greinke's head, and all hell broke loose. Puig, Kennedy...

Brawl, ejections as Dodgers rally past D-backs

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- In a game highlighted by a heated brawl in the seventh inning that involved both players and coaches, Tim Federowicz hit a go-ahead three-run double in the eighth inning to help the Dodgers rally for 5-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. Arizona starter Ian Kennedy, manager Kirk Gibson and coach Turner Ward along with Los Angeles rookie Yasiel Puig...

Braves Evan Gattis Disrespected by Oddsmaker

Atlanta Braves rookie Evan Gattis has had a storybook start to his major league career.  Gattis has 14 home runs in only 156 at bats and is tied for the Braves team lead with Justin Upton, even though he has 68 fewer at bats.  He is also second on the team in RBI with 37, only 6 behind team leader, Freddie Freeman.  Freeman has had 43 more at bats than Gattis. Gattis is sixth...
