The Los Angeles Dodgers have gone from having the best record in baseball to losing all of a 7 1/2 game lead and sitting in second place in the NL West behind the Giants. The Dodgers lack of offense is a big reason why the team has experienced a sudden drop off in the win column.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers are currently discussing a trade with the Houston Astros to acquire Carlos Lee who would all of a sudden provide the Dodgers with a somewhat legitimate power threat.
The Dodgers would send pitcher Garret Gould and possibly another piece to Houston. Gould was pulled from his start tonight at High-A.
The only problem, is Lee would have to waive his no trade clause to allow the deal to go through. Lee has turned down other possible trade scenarios because of his booming cattle business near Houston.
Lee is hitting .291/.344/.410 with 5 home runs and 29 rbis. He has 68 hits while current Dodgers first baseman James Loney has 52 hits and a .240/.307/.634 line.
