Also known as the Bond movie no one remembers, and the start you won’t soon forget. Speaking of bad movies, remember that movie starring David Bowie as an alien in search of water who falls to Earth. I think it was called “The Man Who Fell to Earth.”  Brandon Morrow did his best David Bowie impression last night as he came crashing down to Earth, getting lit up by the Mighty Texas Rangers for 6 ER in 0.2 innings, inflating his ERA to 3.47. After coming off a 3-hit complete game shutout last week the confidence level was high, but we all knew the regression was coming. With a 4.18 career ERA you have to know that his sparkling 2.63 ERA this year was due for an increase. Sonava(didn’t)bench! Morrow has been a bona fide fantasy ace this year but if we take a closer look at his match ups to date B-Morrow hasn’t really faced a legit offense. Taking into account that Morrow has yet to face divisional rivals New York or Boston, (the Red Sox versus whom he has an 11.45 ERA against over the ...

Visiting clubhouse far from foreign for Oliver

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Darren Oliver definitely knows the way to the visiting clubhouse at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. After all when he wasn't there on the home side during one of his three stints pitching for the two-time American League champions, the affable veteran made several appearances in Arlington as a visitor with the Red Sox, Astros and Angels. So, when he made his...

Blue Jays place Ben Francisco on DL

The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Ben Francisco on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain while optioning left-hander Evan Crawford to triple-A Las Vegas. The Jays also recalled first baseman David Cooper from Las Vegas on Friday and selected the contract of right-hander Ryota Igarashi from the Triple-A club. To make room for Igarashi, oft-injured pitcher Dustin...

Toronto Blue Jays go down in Texas

I knew going into the series against the Texas Rangers was going be tough for the Toronto Blue Jays, but I didn’t think they would get outscored like they did. In fact, the Blue Jays were outscored 34-16 in this three game series. The Jays got hammered by the Rangers 14-3 in the first game on Friday night. The Rangers already had a 7-0 lead in the second inning. The only bright...

Rangers 8, Blue Jays 7(13)

Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 13th inning, lifting the Texas Rangers to an 8-7 victory over the Toronto Blue jays. Toronto had taken a 7-5 lead in the top half, but Elvis Andrus doubled in a run off Ryota Igarashi to start the comeback. Hamilton's third game-ending homer came off Jason Frasor (0-1) and was his 20th home run of the year. Ian Kinsler...

Blue Jays-Rangers Preview

The Texas Rangers have been unusually quiet at the plate lately and might have trouble ending that trend against Toronto's Brandon Morrow, who is coming off his second shutout in four starts. Josh Hamilton and the Rangers will try to begin breaking out of their offensive slump Friday night when they open a three-game home series against Morrow and the Blue Jays. Hamilton leads...
