The Detroit Tigers have placed starting pitcher Doug Fister on the disabled list today with a side strain. Fister aggravated the same injury that caused him to miss a month of the season in April and May. This is concerning news for Fister owners and Tigers fans, as Fister may be sidelined for some time to allow his oblique to heal. Fister was primed for a solid season as the number two starter behind Justin Verlander, however, his lingering side injury has limited him to an 0-3 record on the season, with a 3.15 ERA in just six appearances. His last start was his worst outing of the season, as he gave up 11 hits and six earned runs against the Red Sox.

Fister injury isn't serious

The Tigers got a rare dose of good news Thursday afternoon. In a season where simply getting over .500 has seemed like a Herculean task, the Tigers found out that No. 2 starter Doug Fister does not have a serious injury to his rib-cage cartilage, and should miss a shorter period of time than he did when he was out from April 7 to May 7 with the same injury. That's a relief...

Memo to Yahoo! Sports: Fix Quintin Berry's profile picture (Video)

Justin Verlander working on his home run swing

Justin Verlander is a no-hit pitcher. But he's also a no-hit hitter. It's like he's pitching to himself almost. In his career during interleague play, Verlander is 0-for-20 with 13 strikeouts and his seven other outs weren't exactly results of bad luck. But Verlander is trying to change that. It's no secret around Detroit that he desperately wants to get his first...
