Triple A The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 3-0 behind an excellent pitching performance by starter Darrell Rasner. He got the win. He pitched 8 innings of shut out ball on 2 hits. That's pretty incredible. He had 5 strike outs and his era for the year now stands at 0.72. Jose Rasner pitched the 9th inning for his 5th save of the season. All of his outs came on strike outs. Left-fielder Brett Gardner went 1 for 1 with 1 rbi, a stolen base and 2 walks. Gardner is batting .357 on the year. Second-baseman Bernie Castro went 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored, a walk and 2 stolen bases. Right-fielder Jason Lane hit a home run BOMB in the bottom of the 8th and went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Shelley Duncan went 0-4 and his average is down to .295. Double A The Trenton Thunder lost to the Binghamton Mets by a score of 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th inning. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Phil Coke and he didn't have a great outing. He gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits in 6 innings. Coke did have 7 strike outs. His era for the year stands at 6.75. Yikes. Replacing Coke in the 7th inning was Bo Hall and he pitched 2 scoreless innings before losing the game in the bottom of the 9th. He gave up a single and a walk and a force out put men on second and third before giving up the winning run on a single with 2 outs. Hall got the loss. Left-fielder Matt Carson went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with a home run and catcher P.J. Pilittere went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run. A Adv. The Tampa Yankees lost to the Clearwater Threshers by a score of 6-0. Starting for Tampa was Ryan Pope and he gave up 5 runs in which 4 of the runs were unearned because of two throwing errors. One by Pope and another by first-baseman Kevin Smith. Pope pitched 5 innings and took the loss. Edgar Soto pitched the last 3 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits. Short-stop Eduardo Nunez went 2 for 4 and that's basically it for the hitting. No one else had multiple hits. Class A The Charleston RiverDogs "rock" the Columbus Catfish by a score of 7-2. The RiverDogs had 14 hits in this game. Starting for the RiverDogs was Noel Castillo and he pitched a great game giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. He got the win and his era for the year is 2.28. Jesse Hoover pitched the last 2 innings and gave up no runs on 1 hit. His era for the year is 1.29. You know that there are always hittings stars worth mentioning for the RiverDogs and tonight they would be right fielder David Williams, left-fielder Taylor Holiday, short-stop Carmen Angelini and catcher Jesus Montero. Williams went 1 for 5 with 2 rbi's, Holiday went 1 for 3 with 2 rbi's, Angelini went 3 for 5 with 1 run scored and Montero went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Jesus Montero is batting .359 on the year.
