Mets Merized Online:
The New York Mets combined a solid start by Jon Niese with a clutch bomb by Lucas Duda to crash Chipper Jones’ farewell party and beat the Atlanta Braves by the score of 3-1 on Friday night.
Jon Niese made his final start of the season and aside from a solo home run to Freddie Freeman, the young southpaw pitched a solid seven innings, allowing just one run on fours hits, three walks and striking out three. Niese finishes his season with a 13-9 record in 30 starts while posting a 3.40 ERA in a career-high 190 1/3 innings.
The bullpen delivered a nice effort with Manny Acosta and Justin Hampson combining for a scoreless eighth, while Bobby Parnell pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save of the season in eleven save opportunities.
The Mets combined for just six hits on the night, but two came from Lucas Duda including a huge three-run homer off of Tim Hudson in the seventh inning. It was the 15th home run of the season for Duda who had a classic nine pitch at-bat before he ri...

Should the Mets trade Jonathon Niese?
I don’t know why MetsBlog keeps putting this out there every month, but the answer is the same as it’s always been and that is NO.
I just don’t understand this fascination they have with this silly and somewhat ignorant discussion. If the goal is to build from within, than why would you ever consider trading one of your homegrown pitchers...
ATLANTA -- Lucas Duda spoiled Chipper Jones' big night with a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and the New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 Friday at Turner Field. The Braves had honored Jones in a pregame ceremony, showering him with tributes and gifts, including dismantling and installing his clubhouse locker in his new house. Despite all the emotion running...

The Braves, who have wrapped up at least a wild-card berth, began the night four games behind the Nationals in the NL East. Atlanta has only five games remaining...
Mets fans have watched Jonathon Niese mature right before their eyes. After signing a five year contract at the beginning of the season, Niese has become not only on the of the most consistent pitchers in the Mets rotation, but one of the most consistent in the league.
Despite the new contract, Niese’s future with the team is in question. In arguably the most intriguing off...

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the New York Mets play this well and at the end of the day, it might turn out that this doesn’t mean very much, but it’s still nice to see them at least appear to be heading in the right direction.
The Mets have had a very lousy season overall but they’ve won six of their last seven games and have a real chance to head into the offseason...
On a night when the Braves honored future hall-of-famer Chipper Jones and the state’s governor declared it ‘Chipper Jones Day’ in Georgia, the New York Mets spoiled the evening with a 3-1 victory on Friday night. Or. Should I say, Lucas Duda spoiled the night with a three-run bomb to give NY a lead they would not relinquish.
OH DUDA DAY: With the Mets trailing 1-0 in the...
Do you remember that episode of South Park where the community tried to save the town from being made into an interstate highway by pooling their money and putting it all on 31 black, and they won $350,000? But then they thought that if they put that money on 31 black again and it hit, "We can save the town and be super-rich!" And then it came up 2 red (even though there...
