The walkoff single. The walkoff homer. The walkoff double. The walkoff...walk. We've seen all of them this week. We've now also seen one of the most impossible walkoff hits for anyone to achieve: the walkoff triple. That's what happened in Minnesota yesterday, when Ryan Doumit of all players hit a walkoff triple to gvie the Twins a 5-4 win over the Mariners. With Minnesota trailing by a run and two runners on, Doumit hit a ball to deep right center off the wall, scoring the two runs and giving the Twins the win. However, giving him a triple might have been a bit liberal from the scorekeepers, since he was halfway between second and third when Joe Mauer touched home with the winning run. I'm sure he'll take it, though. PIC OF THE DAY George Kottaras and Robbie Ross are milking cows AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. (Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports)  Game of the Day: Rockies 7, Dodgers 6. Two days in a row for these guys, huh? The Dodgers actually were down 4-3 in this one after five, but rallied back to take a 6-4 lead over the next two innings. Colorado tied it at six after a two-run homer by MIchael Cuddyer in the seventh, and we once again went to extras in Denver. Matt Guerrier replaced a lights out JP Howell after Howell struck out Todd Helton to start the tenth, and his outing was painful. After getting Nolan Arenado to ground out, Guerrier gave up back to back singles to catcher Yorvit Torreabla and Wilin Rosario to bring up Dexter Fowler, who singled in Torreabla to hand the Rockies a big win and push the Dodgers further back in the NL West. Pitching Lines of the Day: Ubaldo Jimenez dominated the Rays in a 5-0 Indians win, allowing four hits over eight shutout innings, walking one and striking out seven. Jose Fernandez obliterated the Mets in a 8-1 Marlins win, giving up just three hits in seven scoreless frames, punching out eight and walking one. Adam Wainwright allowed one run on eight hits in the Cardinals' 7-1 win over the Giants in game two of their doubleheader, striking out ten without a walk in his complete game victory. St Louis won game one 8-0 after Shelby Miller allowed six hits in seven shutout innings, walking one and striking out seven. Tim Hudson and Gio Gonzalez nearly matched each other pitch for pitch in Atlanta's 2-1, ten inning win, with Hudson allowing one unearned run on three hits in 7 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out four, while Gonzalez allowed one run on three hits in seven innings, striking out seven with one walk. Finally, Francisco Liriano's awesome season continued, allowing one run on four hits in six innings in Pittsburgh's 2-0 loss to the Reds, striking out 11 and walking one. Hitting Lines of the Day: Daniel Nava had a good game for the Red Sox in their laugher of an 11-1 win over the Yankees, going 4/6 with two runs, four RBI, and a homer, while Mike Napoli went 3/5 with a grand slam. JJ Hardy was all of Baltimore's offense in their 10-3 pounding by the Tigers, going 2/4 with a walk and two solo homers. Jason Bay nearly carried the Mariners to a win in Minnesota, going 2/4 with a pair of solo dingers. Paul Goldschmidt and Gerardo Parra combined to lift the Diamondbacks to a 12-4 blowout win in Chicago over the Cubs, with Goldschmidt going 2/5 with three runs, four RBI, a walk, and a homer, while Parra went 2/3 with two runs, two RBI, two walks, and a homer. Other Games: The Brewers edged the Phillies 4-3, helped by a blown call on the basepaths in the ninth inning. The A's beat the White Sox 4-3 in ten innings after the aforementioned walkoff walk. The Royals beat the Rangers 4-1 in ten innings. The Astros shut out the Angels 2-0. The Padres edged the Blue Jays 4-3. Today's Games: Matt Harvey starts for the Mets in Miami, which could be a bloodbath. Kevin Gausman makes start number three for the Orioles, taking on the Tigers. Cliff Lee starts for the Phillies against the Brewers. Mat Latos and the Reds take on Jeanmar Gomez and the Pirates. Jeremy Bonderman will make his first start since 2010, taking the hill for the Mariners in Minnesota. Yu Darvish and the Rangers host Ervin Santana and the Royals. Pat Corbin starts for the Diamondbacks in Chicago against Edwin Jackson. CJ Wilson and the Angels host the Astros. Chris Sale takes on Jarrod Parker in Oakland. Hyun-Jin Ryu starts for the Dodgers in Denver. Clay Buchholz takes on Hiroki Kuroda in the Bronx. National TV: Giants-Cardinals (2 PM, TBS), Red Sox-Yankees (8 PM, ESPN) Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone. [follow]
