UPDATE: It's been a confusing day for the 756th home run baseball that was hit by Barry Bonds. It seemed earlier in the day that shoe designer Marc Ecko had decided to renege on donating Barry Bonds’ record setting 756th homerun ball to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.... or did he? Ecko, who purchased the ball for $750,000 said at the time that the ball would go to Cooperstown. Shortly after the purchase, fans were allowed to vote on what to do with the ball. They opted for an asterisk to be branded on the ball in reference to allegations that Bonds has used performance-enhancing substances. The day began with talks between the HOF and Ecko with the Hall saying they had reached an impasse in Ecko turning over the ball permanently to the HOF. “The owner’s previous commitment to unconditionally donate the baseball has changed to a loan.
