Matthew Cerrone: I don’t know that it ever makes total sense for fans to 100 percent give up on any one. However, I can tell you that I often forget he’s even in the organization. He’s now 22 years old. The clock is ticking, and he still has never really played a full, dominant season in the minor leagues, and it’s hard to believe he ever will. Last year, a Mets person tried to convince me that Martinez was simply going through growing pains, like all young men, it’s just he was doing it as a professionally athlete (keeping in mind that every body is different, and we all heal and build in different ways).
