The Los Angeles Angels have been trying to find trade partners for Dan Haren and/or Ervin Santana. Santana has been traded to the Kansas City Royals according to FOX Sport’s Ken Rosenthal.
The Angels held a $13 million club option for 2013 for Santana. The 29-year-old right-hander was a disappointing 9-13 last season for an Angels team that finished third in the American League West. Santana had a 5.17 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 178 innings.
No word has been released about what the Royals gave up to get Santana. The return is likely tied to the amount of money that the Angels picked up on his contract.
It is unclear if the Angels will continue to shop Haren.
