Dodgers_pitcher_hiroki_f547
In his column "10 moves that might happen", Bowden doesn't have much mention of the Dodgers, besides what we would lose (link insider only): 4. Hiroki Kuroda signs with the New York Yankees for one year, $13 million One of the most underrated pitchers in the free-agent market, Kuroda would fit in nicely with the New York Yankees. He and a healthy Phil Hughes would offer depth to the Yankees' rotation behind CC Sabathia. The Los Angeles Dodgers inexplicably used the money to sign Aaron Harang and Chris Capuano. The Boston Red Sox also are still a possibility. So we not only will lose Hiro, but also get lambasted for the signings of Harang and Capuano! Yay Ned Colletti!

Read: the Yankees 2012 plans for Jesus Montero

This is from last week, but with the Winter Meetings it got overlooked. Anyway, Erik Boland of Newsday spoke with Yankees manager Joe Girardi last Wednesday and got some tentative plans out of the manager for rookie Jesus Montero. Here are the bullet points: Montero will not be guaranteed a roster spot, but the Yankees are planning for him to be a part of the everyday lineup...

In case you missed it, James Loney might be in some trouble

Within the very archives of this blog, you’ll see where I touted James Loney as a future batting title winner. I don’t know if I’m going to end up accurate on that one. Huge hat tip to my buddy Franco over at Next Level Ballplayer for this one. Loney, 27, was arrested Nov. 14 after hitting a Toyota, Mercedes and Mini around 6 p.m. According to the report, when...

Report: Derek Jeter Gives Gift Baskets, Signed Baseballs to Women He Dates

Derek Jeter may have several World Series rings, but he seems to have no plans to add a wedding ring to that collection any time soon. The New York Yankees shortstop was busted by the New York Post for allegedly giving parting gifts to women who spend the night at his Trump Towers pad. "Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to...

Yankees former 1st rounder Brackman signs with the Reds

It was a little surprising when the Yankees didn’t pick up Andrew Brackman‘s option this offseason, but considering it was worth $2 million and he took a giant step backwards last season it wasn’t totally without merit. Still, I wanted to see the Yankees re-sign him for maybe a lesser deal, but instead he has signed a major league contract with the Cincinnati Reds...

Report: Jeter's dating antics come out

Derek Jeter has always maintained an image of class over his 17 seasons with the New York Yankees, but that could be up for debate now. After breaking up with longtime girlfriend Minka Kelly in August , the 12-time All-Star shortstop has been courting a number of women in his Trump World Tower bachelor pad, the New York Post reports. It gets better, though. According to the Post...

Rumor: Nakajima highly motivated to play in the US

The Yankees won the rights to Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima last week through the posting process with a $2 million bid, but early rumors were that he wouldn’t sign with them because either he expected they wouldn’t meet his salary demands or that they couldn’t offer enough playing time. However, the latest is that Nakajima has been “highly motivated...

Exclusive: McCourt Keeping Dodgers?

Maybe Frank McCourt's end game is not to sell the Dodgers after all. It's been five weeks since the team went up for sale, but no one can bid because none of the prospective buyers has the book with the Dodger financial information. The Changeup: Timeline: The Frank McCourt Era That information has not been made available to prospective buyers. Why the delay? It's not...

Derek Jeter’s Autograph Frustrates Women

Derek Jeter is a creature of habit — baseball players are overly superstitious by trade — but the Yankee shortstop apparently carries that behavior into his bedroom as well. After splitting with Minka Kelly and returning to a life of single leisure in New York City, the suitors in Jeter’s life have caught on to his next-morning ruse. Once the girl in question leaves...

Blue Pulaski's 2011 Man Of The Year

The 2011 Man of The Year award was a unanimous choice. The hands-down winner received 100% of the one vote counted and I think you'll agree that nobody is more deserving of this prestigious honor than Mr. 3000 himself, Derek Jeter...especially after reading this report from the New York Post's smokeshow reporter Tara Palmeri:“Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment...

Jeter’s booty hauls

Not so classy, captain! Yankee star Derek Jeter, one of New York’s most eligible hunks since his split with longtime gal pal Minka Kelly, is bedding a bevy of beauties in his Trump World Tower bachelor pad — and then coldly sending them home alone with gift baskets of autographed...

Yankees Tender Contracts to Eligible Players

The Yankees got some house cleaning done and tendered contracts to all of their unsigned players including the six that are arbitration eligible.  That means Joba Chamberlain (remember him), Phil Hughes, David Robertson, Brett Garnder, Boone Logan and Russel Martin are all back in the fold. None of this was surprise because all of these [...]

Report: Derek Jeter Once Again Plowing Everything In Sight

Baseball season never ends for the New York Post. Derek Jeter's in the news today because he's reportedly back in the game with a vengeance. After breaking up with Minka Kelly, Jeter is "bedding a bevy of beauties" (because the Post lives in the 1960s) and diluting the collectibles market at the same time.More »
