It wasn't an 0-2 performance by Andre Ethier Wednesday at Rancho Cucamonga's Epicenter that was the biggest Dodger news of the day. It was his pre-game assertion that he felt he could have rejoined his Los Angeles teammates prior to the All-Star Break after a left oblique injury suffered in the first inning of a 3-0 loss to San Francisco on June 27 kept him sidelined for the final 11 games before the break. "Yeah, I feel like I'm a hundred percent right now," Ethier said before Wednesday's 7-0 Quakes loss to the Inland Empire 66ers. "I thought I could probably go there in Arizona. That's what I was trying to get them to do, to let me play in Arizona and let me enjoy my All-Star Break, but to no success. They decided to let me get the extra rest." And while his teammates were venturing back into Southern California for the post-All Star slate that begins against San Diego Friday night at Dodger Stadium, Ethier was at the club's High Class...

Time For Juan Uribe To Pack His Bags

The Dodgers are bringing in some much needed reinforcements tomorrow, two big reinforcements to be exact. Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp are expected to be activated tomorrow, with two activations that means two roster decisions will have to be made. Things are about to get really interesting. Two players will be leaving the 25-man roster, the obvious choice may not be so obvious...

Andre Ethier set to return to Dodgers

Andre Ethier will rejoin the Dodgers today after spending two weeks on the DL with a strained left oblique muscle. The two-time All-Star right fielder completed his rehab stint with an 0-2 outing at Single A Rancho Cucamonga. Ethier told reporters after the game: ”I felt good. I went up there and actually got some opportunities to see some pitches off a righty tonight. As each...

My mideason Top 25 Los Angeles Dodgers' prospects

We're just more than half way through the Major League season, which means there's only a couple months remaining in the minor league season. It's time for a prospect update. Since I did a Top 50 prospect list in November, I'm going to unveil my midseason Top 25 Dodgers' prospects. There's been an infusion of new players from the draft and International...

The Future of The Dodgers Is Bright.

It's no secret I'm a huge Jerry Sands fan. I believe he'll be a nice part of the offense for a number of years, and hope he gets another extended look before the year is out. No, I don't believe he's the next Matt Kemp, but he's also no James Loney or Juan Rivera or Tony Gwynn Jr., i.e. he should be playing over them now and allowed to mature into the hitter...

Dodgers Trade Deadline Preview: Corner Infielder Market

The All-Star Game is here and so you know what that means, rumors, rumors, and more rumors. We are exactly three weeks away from the July non-waiver trade deadline, so the Dodgers rumor mill, as busy as it's been, is about to get even busier. The Dodgers are in the market for a corner infielder, as Dylan Hernandez verified once again for us just a couple days ago. The only...

Dodgers battle injuries to hold NL West lead

LOS ANGELES -- The 2012 National League season has been nothing short of amazing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite a slew of injuries that would have ended the pennant hopes of most teams, the Dodgers will still be leading the NL West when play resumes after the All Star break on Friday as they host San Diego at Dodger Stadium. And even though it will be Friday the 13th, it should...

During the MLB All-Star break, Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp visited the Negro League Baseball museum while in Kansas City for the game Tuesday. With Dee Gordonsidelined for the next six weeks, the Dodgers added middle infield depth by acquiring minor leaguer Ozzie Martinez from the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations. Padres-Dodgers Preview

Despite playing without Matt Kemp for nearly two months and Andre Ethier for the last two weeks, the injury-plagued Los Angeles Dodgers made it through the All-Star break with the NL West lead. While their conclusion to the first half left much to be desired, the Dodgers have reason for optimism as their second half gets underway. Kemp and Ethier are both expected back Friday night...

Dodgers Can Scratch Edwin Encarnacion Off Their List

My hopes of a Chad Billingsley, Edwin Encarnacion trade was just blown to smithereens this morning. According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of MLB Trade Rumors, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed Edwin Encarnacion to a three-year $27MM contract, which also includes a fourth year option. I hate the Blue Jays right now, but I'm certainly glad to see them put together a contending...

Colletti Shifting Focus To Chase Headley and Aramis Ramirez

Earlier today we learned that the Toronto Blue Jays extended Edwin Encarnacion on a multi-year deal. This afternoon, more information is breaking out about the Dodgers new plan of action. Tim Brown is reporting that Ned Colletti and his front office staff are now targeting Aramis Ramirez. However, the Dodgers are said to still be making Chase Headley their number one priority....

Around The Web: Dodgers Mid-Season Grades, Evaluting Scouts, Umpire Strike Three Calls

Mike Scioscia’s Tragic Illness: Mike Petriello gave his mid-season grades for the offense. Thought he was a bit friendly to Bobby Abreu given that most of his production wasn’t so much skill-based as luck-based. Mike Scioscia’s Tragic Illness: Mike Petriello gave his mid-season grades for the pitchers. I don’t quite understand why Chris Capuano gets

Dodgers activate Kemp, Ethier from DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated star outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier from the disabled list Friday, and they have optioned outfielders Elian Herrera and Scott Van Slyke to Triple-A Albuquerque. Kemp, hitting .355 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs, missed 51 of the Dodgers' previous 53 games because of a left hamstring strain. They were 24-27 in his absence. Kemp appeared...
