Down to his last strike in the top of the ninth, Andre Ethier worked some serious black voo doo magic on Wednesday night in Toronto. Colby Rasmus watches as the ball takes a hop, hits the top of his glove, and continues spinning behind him. The misplay allowed Yasiel Puig to score from first and tie the game at 3. How right are things going for the Dodgers right now?
Even the artificial turf is helping them secure wins.
Down to their last strike, the perfect storm emerged. Yasiel Puig, who was on first base at the time after drawing a five pitch walk, took off for second base. Andre Ethier fisted a 1-2 breaking ball into center field. The play looked routine. Colby Rasmus clearly did not have a jump on the ball. Playing it on a bounce would result in runners on first and third with two out and the Blue Jays would have a chance to get A.J. Ellis for the final out.
Instead, Rasmus ran up on the ...

LOS ANGELES The Dodgers designated pitcher Ted Lilly for assignment Thursday, a move they preferred not to make but felt they were forced to.
Lilly, who was activated from the disabled list on Wednesday, refused the teams request to pitch in the minors, so the Dodgers essentially let him go. Hes likely to be picked up on waivers by another team or become a free agent.
Matt Kemp returned Sunday from his 15-day DL stint due to irritation in the AC joint of his left shoulder.
The Dodgers optioned outfielder and first baseman Scott Van Slyke to make room on the active roster for Kemp. Van Slyke has hit .241/.309/.517 with six home runs and six doubles in 33 games for the Dodgers this season.
Scott Van Slyke was sent back to Triple-A in a corresponding...
Logan White, the Dodgers‘ Vice President Of Amateur Scouting, was kind enough to give me 20 minutes of his time to talk about the farm system and draft.
If you want to hear White actually speak, check out the latest episode of “Dugout Blues“.
I looked at the draft this year and you kind of had a more college-focused approach this year. Is there any reason for that?
HOW VERY CLEVER
courtesy of www.thenewstribune.com With all the talk of rookie sensation Yasiel Puig this season the real catalyst for the Dodger success is LA shortstop Hanley Ramirez. He is the unsung hero for the National League West division leaders. Dodgers are 17 and 5 in their last 22 ballgames and leading the division by a half game. It all starts with the team’s best player, Hanley...
So far this season, it's been one injury after another for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Unfortunately for Matt Kemp, more than one of the ailments has been related to him. Kemp is currently sidelined by a sprained left ankle, an injury that will keep him out for the team's current series against the Toronto Blue Jays. If the center fielder doesn't show improvement soon,...
The Dodgers were down to their final out tonight when Andre Ethier hit a sinking liner to center fielder Colby Rasmus. The ball skipped off the Toronto turf and rolled a ways, allowing Yasiel Puig to scamper home and tie the game at 3-3 off Blue Jays closer Casey Jannsen.
The Dodgers would score five more runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the game 8-3. The crowning moment...
The Dodgers Wednesday placed Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list for the third time this season and activated pitcher Ted Lilly from the DL for the third time.
Kemp sprained his left ankle on an awkward slide into home on Sunday against the Nationals. The swelling and discomfort showed little improvement over the past three days leaving the club uncertain how long Kemp will be...
When Guggenheim Partners purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers during the early part of the 2012 season they sent a message to everyone who would listen: they were bringing baseball back to Los Angeles.
Unlike past owner Frank McCourt, the new owners put their money where their mouth was, signing Andre Ethier to a long-term deal, acquiring Hanley Ramirez from the Marlins, obtaining...

Brett Lawrie is a heartbreaker.
The other night I came across Stephen King’s wisdom on opening lines. Written above, in italic, is my opening line. It’s simple, to the point, and for most of Lawrie’s fantasy baseball career, emphatically true. I applied this same line when I wrote about him earlier this season. King would say this opener...
Greetings from Dodger Stadium, where the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Cincinnati Reds tonight. The Dodgers return from a 6-0 road trip with a 1 1/2 game lead on the divisional race in front of a sellout crowd tonight for Vin Scully Bobblehead Night. The atmosphere at the ballpark is electric already 45 minutes before first pitch.
Because of the sellout, please exercise patience...
So, the Ryan Braun suspension is old news in the sports world. But, one opponent doesn’t seem to be giving up on the issue, Dodgers CF Matt Kemp. He wants his hardware.
Kemp has been very vocal to the media in regards to the Ryan Braun case because he wants the title that is “rightfully” his. Matt finished runner-up to Braun in voting for the 2011 National League Most...
The Dodgers' 2013 opening day roster payroll of $225805500 more than doubled the $114 million on opening day last year.
Six games into the second-half of the season the fruits of owning the second most expensive roster have catapulted the Dodgers atop the NL West.
The Dodgers had scored 41 runs in their last four games before entering Thursday's game and Zack Greinke had...
Author’s Note: This is the fifth edition of a seven part series on fielding, and how it could affect your fantasy team and the trade deadline. We are profiling the top two teams in each division because those are the teams most likely to deal for players to help them down the stretch. During the process, we will discuss some fairly complex topics as it pertains to fielding. If...
