Rockies' change is hard to discern

The Colorado Rockies always have done things a little differently. Maybe it's Coors Field, the most hitter-friendly ballpark in the majors. Maybe it's the unique start time for home games, as the lone outpost in the Mountain Time Zone. Maybe it's the frontier feel of Denver, baseball's mountain pass en route from Kansas City to San Francisco. The Rockies' originality...

Holliday’s two homers push Cards over Rockies

Matt Holliday led the St. Louis Cardinals to another Colorado win on two home runs Wednesday night.

Colorado Rockies Josh Rutledge Showing a Glimpse Into the Future

Denver, CO. Colorado Rockies’ rookie Josh Rutledge is giving frustrated Rockies fans a glimpse into the future. Rutledge at the age of 23 continued his torrid pace since being called up on July 13 hitting a home run in four consecutive games. False Alarm: O'Dowd still in charge of Colorado Rockies for now

Geivett's duties expanded with Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have restructured front office responsibilities with assistant general manager Bill Geivett being given more day-to-day duties with the major league club while general manager Dan O'Dowd focuses on player development. Geivett will still report to O'Dowd, who has been GM since September 1999. The Rockies have reached the playoffs twice in his tenure and...

Holliday's 4 RBIs lift Cards past Rockies

DENVER (AP) -- Matt Holliday admittedly misjudged a first-inning fly ball that sailed over his head in left field for a double. The Cardinals slugger more than made up for it. Holliday homered, doubled and drove in four runs, and Kyle Lohse persevered through an erratic outing to win his fifth consecutive decision and lift St. Louis over the Colorado Rockies 11-6 on Tuesday night...

Colorado Rockies Name Bill Geivett to Larger GM Role

Denver, CO. In a move that has many in Rockies Nation scratching their heads, the Colorado Rockies’ GM Dan O’Dowd has reassigned himself to more of a role with the minor league systems and player development, while giving Bill Geivett more of a role with the major league club. Interesting O’Dowd would make this move the day … Continue reading »The post Colorado Rockies...

Rosario and Rutledge profiles

Rookies Wilin Rosario and Josh Rutledge could be foundational pieces for the Colorado Rockies. Rosario has had his detractors regarding his defense but his 17 homers and serviceable batting average (.243) give him the look of the long-sought-after answer behind the plate, at least offensively. If he can maintain his average with his less-than-stellar defense of...

Rockies Notes 8/2

The Rockies started Wednesday with a front office shakeup, but not quite the one most fans were looking for. There was a game the Rockies were leading late until Matt Belisle surrendered a rare home run. There was also a play at the plate with questionable effort by Ramon Hernandez, who wouldn't go near the runner to make an easy tag. Another day, another loss, and now more Rockies notes.

Lohse, Holliday are heroes of win at Colorado

Kyle Lohse's streak of quality starts was snapped at 10 Tuesday night, but his offense bailed him out in a 11-6 win over Colorado that was Lohse's 11th against two losses. Lohse was sailing with a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth when he allowed a two-out single to former Cardinals reliever Adam Ottavino, who was batting for himself. Center fielder Eric Young also singled...
