A lawsuit was filed this past Wednesday against San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum, alleging that the Giants ace stole items from, and trashed, an apartment he had been renting.  The suit claims that the damage racked up by Lincecum is around $200,000.

I don’t think the security deposit is gonna cover that.

Lincecum rented the apartment in San Francisco’s Mission District from May 2010 until February 2011, when the lease expired.  The lawsuit claims that shortly after the rental agreement ended, Timmy re-entered the unit, without the landlord’s permission, and stayed until mid-May.  It was during this time that the alleged wanton destruction of the apartment took place.

From the San Jose Mercury News (via Off the Bench)…

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in San Francisco Superior Court, landlord Mindy Freile alleged that shortly after Lincecum’s lease expired at 141 Hampshire St., the star pitcher illegally returned to living in the apartment and “broke, stained, defaced, tore, injured or destroyed” her property.

“My belief is there was some kind of party that left it in really bad condition,” said Freile’s attorney Jonathan Bonstein. “Maybe there’s a perfectly good explanation on his side, but we haven’t heard it yet.”

The complaint, which seeks $350,000 in damages, also states that Lincecum failed to pay rent on time and stole and destroyed his landlord’s personal property and papers. “Things were missing,”Bornstein said. However the attorney added that he didn’t know if Lincecum took the items or somebody else.

Look, just because he’s young, rich, and likes to partake in smoking a little weed from time to time does not make Tim Lincecum a party animal.  Oh wait, maybe it does.  Still, I find it hard to believe that a high-profile athlete who made $13 million this past season would be late with the rent, destroy property, and steal his landlord’s stuff.

Even if that someone is a man-child like Tim Lincecum.
