Former major-league catcher Johnny Estrada was arrested on domestic violence charges after reportedly making death threats against his wife in front of the couple's three children, a Georgia newspaper reported.
Estrada was charged last week with aggravated stalking because he violated a protective order placed against him by his wife, the Newnan Times-Herald reported. According to the report, the couple, who met while Estrada was playing in the minor leagues, is in the process of getting a divorce.
Estrada played for the Phillies, Braves, Diamondbacks, Brewers and Nationals during his eight-year big league career, which ended in 2008. He was an All-Star in Atlanta in 2004, when he hit .314 with nine home runs and 76 RBI.
In 2005, Estrada was bowled over at home plate by Darin Erstad. The collision caused Estrada to develop post-concussion syndrome -- an ailment that affected Estrada throughout the rest of his career.
