A lot of people love baseball. Some take that love to another level.

The latter can be said for Pasco, Wash., native Mike McWain, a baseball enthusiast who decided to use his body as a way to display his love for the game.

McWain had a field of dreams tattooed across his back, shoulders and arms, according to the Tri-City Herald. The ink, which features a number of baseball legends and other baseball-themed symbols, reportedly required more than 180 hours in a tattoo chair and cost about $10,000.

Among the legends featured in the 39-year-old's tattoo are "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Walter Johnson and Ty Cobb. He even has historic Yankee Stadium across his lower back, although he admitted to hating the Yankees.

In addition, McWain reportedly had images of his son and daughter tattooed onto him because he wants them to be surrounded by the game.

McWain reportedly got his first baseball tattoo in 1997, and although he knew what he eventually wanted to accomplish, it took 11 years to complete the project for various reasons. Now that it's complete, McWain said that his wife, Marcy, loves the ink, although maybe not 100 percent of the time.

"Sometimes when we're in bed I roll over on my side with my back to her with Ty Cobb's portrait staring right at her, and I think it kind of creeps her out," McWain told the Tri-City Herald.

Can you blame her?

  • douchbag
  • "parsley" is right... Probly what your smokin? friggin jeleous broke fool.... lol
  • Beautiful work - a little overpriced, but beautiful nonetheless!
  • Overpriced? 180 hours in the chair breaks down to about $55.75/hr My tattoo artist is $125/hr and worth every penny... This cat got a bargain!
  • How stupid. There are better ways to spend $10,000.00
  • It was his $ and body... WHO are you to decide how HE spends HIS $? Maybe you could use the 10K to buy a brain.... lol
  • What a waste of time, money and pain. I like baseball but I collect cards.
  • I really don't understand why adults like you resort to such harsh judgment over what another individual person decides to do with their own body. Your card collection is completely irrelevant to the matter and to be frank you're making yourself seem extremely childish. This man obviously has a committed passion to the sport and if he wants to have something that has obviously been a serious part of his life imaged onto his body that his prerogative.
  • I agree... I'd rather have ink then some card stufffed into a box somewhere... Sheesh...
  • Thinking he got off cheap for the amount of work that was done. Thinking the haters need to get a life, he isn't hurting anyone. It's not for me but I respect his right to find pleasure wherever he likes and the tattoo appears to have been very well done.
  • to each his own. its his money let him spend it how he wants. and who are we to judge?
  • Talk about love of the game
  • nice job looks great
  • 10,000 for tattoo's? That's ridiculous! I persoanlly like tattoo's , but on other people. I love the movie; "Field of Dreams, but that much money is absurd!!
  • Haters are stupid and need to just go away... Your just jeleous....
  • I love baseball too but that is a bit too much. However, he has Yankees stadium on his body but does not like the Yankees? I dislike the Yankees too so if he feels the same but wanted a "field of dreams" ballpark, why not go with the oldest and best, Fenway!
  • Just wondering... How do you get douchbag from a tattoo on someone you never met??? I think the problem here is you are one of those wimpy men who can't handle mild pain, not judging but Hey I have no tats and think this is AWESOME, beats any gang name or loved one's name or tiny angel/heart etc!!!! Good job mate!!! Anyone who is upset by this can just go home crying to mommy or the wife that hates them.... Get a life people...
  • OK People I'll try to make this easy. Tattoos are a permenant statement you have embossed on your body, period! This man has made a decision as AN ADULT of 37. I personally wouldn't but, I also don't put permenant stickers of any declaration on my car either. How many people are trying to remove what was a bad decision when they were teens? MOST! It reminds me of the pro-Nixon bumper stickers in the early 70's. Then he was busted and what occured was a lot of marred paint jobs on cars, due to the crappy removal process. Well, its the same with tats! Like I said...He's an adult! Although he must not have read about the true Ty Cobb cause it just might be one of those marred paint jobs when he does. Good luck my man, with your future thought process about THE TATTOO.
  • Stupid beyond belief! What do you think that is going to look like when he's 70?? It will all mesh together into a incoherent mess. I don't hate them, I just think they're silly.
  • I dig the red laces on the back of the arms!
  • It's his money. But personally I would have made better use of those $10,000. He must have a very understanding wife.
