It's often suggested that fantasy baseball owners pay little attention to spring training stats when crafting their draft strategy. I agree - 98 percent of the time. In the case of MLB prospects working towards a promotion and multiple veteran players competing for the starting gig, I believe their spring training production means a little bit more. The 2008 first-round pick hit .286 (.384 OBP) with 100 runs, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, and 32 stolen bases for Double-A New Britain last season. The Twins added Hicks to its 40-man roster back in late-November. In the two weeks that followed, Minnesota dealt center fielders Denard Span, to the Nationals, and Ben Revere, to the Phillies. This opened the door for Hicks to compete for the starting major league gig without Triple-A service. He's currently in a three-way battle with Darin Mastroianni and Joe Benson for the job...
