After going through a rough stretch Lance Lynn resumed his dominant early season ways in last night's game against the Brewers. Lynn pitched 7.0 innings of one run ball and rung up 10, although he only came away with a no decision in the Cards win. Miguel Montero and Mark Reynolds had almost identical nights for their respective teams. Montero went 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI, plus a walk. Meanwhile Reynolds went 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI, as usual he doesn't see the point in taking walks. Raul Ibanez continues to surprise this season, as he mashed a grand slam for the Yankees to help them overcome the Blue Jays last night. In a game that also saw Joey Bats (Jose Bautista) leave with a wrist injury, the severity is unknown. Don't look now but Adam Lind is scorching hot since coming back up for the Blue Jays. The slugger has always been a streaky player and well worth owning when hitting the ball well. Over the past 14 days he's hitting .400 on the nos...

The Diamondbacks weren’t really bad enough to be swept by the Cubs last weekend, so maybe it’s no surprise that they busted out against the Reds last night. They touched Bronson Arroyo for 4 runs in the first inning, and that’s all they needed.
With the Diamondbacks’ All-Star Wade Miley on the mound, the Reds’ All-Star Joey Votto out of the line-up, and an ejection...
The Cincinnati Reds need someone to step up in Joey Votto's absence, but so far it hasn't happened.
The Reds close a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, trying to salvage a split and stay at least tied for first place in the NL Central.
Playing its first series without Votto, who underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee Tuesday...
CINCINNATI There are no placards hanging in the Cincinnati Reds clubhouse that say, "Keep a stiff upper lip," but there are, indeed, more stiff upper lips these days than on the Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace.
It is all due to the loss of All-Star first baseman Joey Votto for three weeks after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday.
The team, of course...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is defending the decision to wait before getting an MRI that found torn cartilage in his left knee.
Votto hurt the knee while sliding into a base on June 29, but didn't get an MRI because it started to improve. He said the knee felt close to normal before it started acting up again over the weekend, prompting the test...
The Boston Red Sox placed designated hitter David Ortiz on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right Achilles tendon before Wednesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox.
Manager Bobby Valentine said a second opinion concurred with the team's original report. Ortiz was injured rounding second base in Monday night's win.
Valentine said it would be a week...
Reds first baseman Joey Votto returned to Cincinnati to have cartilage removed from his surgically repaired left knee.
Manager Dusty Baker said Saturday that Votto felt soreness in his knee after participating in a sliding drill. Votto underwent a 6-minute procedure Friday night.
Cincinnati plays the third of a four-game stand against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. If rehab goes...
Jose Bautista was worried his injury was worse.
The star slugger landed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday but was relieved to learn there's no structural damage in his ailing left wrist. He thinks he could return to Toronto's lineup as soon as he's eligible, though manager John Farrell said it's too early to tell.
''The last thing that we want is to push...
On Monday Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays left the game after feeling pain in his wrist on an eighth-inning swing that produced a long foul ball. X-rays were negative but an MRI the following day revealed inflammation. At about the same time Anthony Gose a top prospect in the Blue Jays organization was playing for AAA Las Vegas. He was immediately pulled from the game...
One bit of news took the Cincinnati Reds from their season high
point to a new low - they have to try to hold onto first place
without Joey Votto.
Right-hander Johnny Cueto showed no significant problem from his finger blister during six shutout innings Tuesday night, and Ryan Ludwick hit a three-run homer that sent the Cincinnati Reds to their first victory without Joey Votto, 4-0 over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Votto had surgery earlier in the day to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, sidelining the former National League...

If the Cincinnati Reds continue to pitch well, they should have a good chance to succeed over the next few weeks even without injured star Joey Votto.
After shutting out Arizona to even their four-game set, the Reds hope Mat Latos can continue his undefeated run Wednesday night against the visiting Diamondbacks.
Johnny Cueto and four relievers...
