Torii Hunter used a 4 for 5 day in the last game of July to finish with a .374 average, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored in 23 games. He hit 7 doubles, 2 triples and 7 home runs to get there and jumped up the OF rankings to #11. Hanley Ramirez has hit the cover off the ball since returning from the DL and sparked a run by the Dodgers that led to a 19-6 record in the month of July. HanRam used 17 XBH to jump up the WEAK SS rankings and in just 51 games played is 21st overall, thanks to being top 5 in home runs and top 15 in doubles. Speaking of returning from injury, David Price pitched 3 complete games in July finishing 5-1 with a 1.68 ERA. His teammates Chris Archer and Matt Moore combined to go 8-0 over 10 starts and the Rays finished 21-5 and sit just .5 game behind the Red Sox in the AL East. Tampa Bay will be without Moore for the next two weeks with left elbow soreness. An X-Ray revealed no serious damage so he should return on schedule. Not much has changed amongst fantasy baseball's elite. Miguel Cabrera still is #1 with Chris Davis and Mike Trout doing everything in their power to keep pace. Davis has struggled since the All-Star Break hitting just .222 with 1 home run in 12 games. Trout on the other hand is hitting .383 since the break, but his power is down as well with 14 of his 18 hits being singles. We are still seeing zero catchers or shortstops in the Top 25, while 1B takes 8 slots (Davis, Paul Goldschmidt and Edwin Encarnacion are Top 5 and add Joey Votto to the mix and you get 4 of 7). OF has 6 guys while 2B and P have 4 a piece. Then the disappointing 3B with just 3 (Miggy, David Wright and Evan Longoria) but Adrian Beltre is ranked 26th.Even moving into the Top 50, there are still no catchers! Do all of you who drafted Joe Mauer and Buster Posey in the early rounds still feel like it was a good pick? Even this deep into the seasons overall rankings, Jean Segura is the only SS ranked in the Top 50. If only Hanley Ramirez and Troy Tulowitzki would just stay healthy! Looking even deeper into rankings at the Top 100, 58 of them are either Pitchers or Outfielders. But, 18 of the 28 pitchers are in the bottom half of that group while 16 of the 30 Outfielders are in the top half! As mentioned earlier, 8 1B were in the top 25 BUT just 15 in the top 100! Daniel Murphy used a 5 RBI night to boost his RBI total for the month to 20. In doing so, Murph jumped up to 42nd overall and the #7 2b.Manny Machado and Starling Marte have done the complete opposite. Machado is hitting just .149 since the All-Star Break and just .196 on the month overall, dropping down to 7th at 3B. He will soon be passed by Kyle Seager and Pedro Alvarez at this rate! Marte hit just .248 in July and .185 after the break. He is still in the OF Top 20, but Alex Rios, Ben Zobrist and Alex Gordon will have something to say about that come August!CC Sabathia's ERA continues to grow with 30 rough innings in July. His 10 innings since the All-Star Break have led to a 12.60 ERA bringing his monthly bill to 6.60 over just 30 innings of work! He did increase his K/9 to 9.3 in July, but he walked 3.6 batters per 9 innings. Sabathia finished July just 1-3 and is ranked 25th overall amongst pitchers. To clarify, Chris Tillman, A.J. Griffin and Mike Leake are all ranked ahead of him!
