Recap: In one giant missed opportunity in which the cross town rival Yankees pulverized the division leading Washington Nationals, the Reds came in and completed the three-game sweep, besting the Amazin’s by a final score of 3-1. Chris Young took the hill for his turn in the rotation, trying to avoid the sweep for New York. He started off the day relatively dominant, putting up goose eggs over the first four frames while allowing only three hits over that time. Then in the fifth after retiring the first two batters, Young fell on hard times. After giving up a double to Zack Cozart, young allowed three more batters to reach base including a throwing error on a Brandon Phillips single by Duda that scored two to make it a 3-1 ballgame. Young finished with a final line of seven innings pitched, surrendering three runs (two earned) on nine hits and two walks while punching out two, taking the loss to fall to 1-1 on the year. The Amazin’s continued to make the opposing pitcher look incredible
