Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the man with the greatest name in baseball.
I like him so much, I don’t even care that he plays for Philly. A name like that goes beyond petty division rivalries. Just ask Von Hayes.
Bastardo made his MLB debut last night, replacing the injured Brett Myers. He tossed six innings of shutout baseball, before one of his 90+ fastballs found its way to the wrong part of Adrian Gonzalez’ wheelhouse.
Regardless, it was an impressive debut for the 23-year old, and a point of concern for everyone else in NL East who started writing off the Phils because of pitching woes.
Plus, his name means “bastard.”
