Scott Feldman isn’t used to pitching complete games let alone shutouts. The Orioles aren’t used to seeing them either. On Friday night Feldman threw the first Orioles complete game since June 16 2012 and his first-ever shutout. He threw 106 pitches allowing just five hits and walk striking out three as the Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox 4-0 before 26253 at Oriole Park. The 30-year-old Feldman who the Orioles acquired from the Cubs on July 2 had just one complete games in 126 major league starts and that came on May 1. He said he hadn’t pitched one since college. “I definitely wanted it but the big thing this time of the year – it doesn’t matter how many innings you go – it matters who wins the game. All that other stuff is great but we won the game. We won the first two and hopefully we can keep playing well” Feldman said. Feldman (5-4) pitched the Orioles (75-65) to their second straight win against the sad-sack White Sox (56-84) who have lost eight straight. “He had com...

Baltimore Orioles’ path to the playoffs is a rocky one

The Baltimore Orioles, somewhat miraculously, still find themselves in contention for a Wild Card spot after yesterday’s 3-1 win over the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards. The O’s are 3 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for that oh-so-coveted second WC birth, despite going 4-6 in their last 10 games and losing 4 of their last 5 series overall. They do sit behind the Yankees and...

Why the Baltimore Orioles Are Responsible For Delaying The Start Of The NFL Season

It was reported months ago, but for those looking for a place to vent your frustration aim it towards the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles share a parking lot with the Ravens, and refused to budge their schedule to accommodate the Ravens for what would’ve been their home opener. This is the first time in 11 years the SB winning team has had to start on the road. Scheduling conflicts...

Davis hits 48th, O's beat White Sox

With Chris Davis leading the way, the Baltimore Orioles put on another long-ball display in an important win over the Chicago White Sox. This victory, however, was different than all the rest. Scott Feldman pitched a five-hitter for Baltimore's first complete game of the season, Davis hit his major league-leading 48th home run and the Orioles dealt Chicago its eighth straight...

Wieters lifts Orioles over White Sox 4-3

Matt Wieters hit a two-run single in the 10th inning to give the Baltimore Orioles a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. Pinch-hitter Henry Urrutia started the winning rally with a one-out infield single against closer Addison Reed. Pinch-runner Chris Dickerson then went all the way to third on Nick Markakis' base hit. Reed bounced back with a strikeout of Nate...

Wieters' 10th inning single drove in two as the Orioles beat the White Sox 4-3

All afternoon the Orioles had runners in scoring position and did almost nothing with them. In the 10th inning Matt Wieters changed all that. Wieters’ two-out line drive base hit to right scored Chris Dickerson and Nick Markakis and gave the Orioles a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox before 25653 at Oriole Park on Saturday. Prior to Wieters’ hit the Orioles were 1-for-17...

Orioles have no fun in 4-2 loss to White Sox

The Baltimore Orioles are beginning to feel the pressure of the playoff hunt. A baserunning blunder and poor hitting in the clutch proved costly Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the White Sox. The defeat stalled Baltimore's run at Tampa Bay for the second and final AL wild-card spot, and ended Chicago's nine-game skid. Adam Jones hit his 31st home run for the Orioles, who went 0...

Orioles hit 3 HRs in 3-1 win over White Sox

Miguel Gonzalez allowed one run over seven innings and the Baltimore Orioles hit three solo home runs in a 3-1 victory over the skidding Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. Adam Jones, J.J. Hardy and Brian Roberts homered off Jose Quintana (7-6) to provide Baltimore with a much-needed win. The Orioles were coming off a 3-6 road trip that dropped them four games off the pace in...

Davis hits No. 48 as Orioles beat White Sox 4-0

Chris Davis hit his major league-leading 48th home run, Scott Feldman pitched a five-hitter for his first career shutout and the Baltimore Orioles beat the White Sox 4-0 Friday night, extending Chicago's losing streak to eight games. Davis connected in the sixth inning off John Danks to move within two homers of tying Brady Anderson for the single-season club record. The solo...

O's make baserunning gaffe, Chisox end 9-game skid

Pinch-runner Chris Dickerson got lost on the bases and was doubled up for the final out, and the Chicago White Sox ended a nine-game losing streak by holding off the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 Sunday. Down 4-1, Baltimore loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth against Addison Reed. After Ryan Flaherty grounded into a forceout at second base that scored a run, Dickerson ran for him...

Still In It...

Last week, I pondered that if the Orioles came home from their nine-game road trip with a losing record, their playoff hopes might be dashed. However, I’ve never been a person to make wildly accurate predictions when it comes to sports and was wrong again about the Orioles. Thanks to the Tamp Bay Rays falling into a slump despite their great pitching, they have allowed...
