ARLINGTON, Texas The possible pursuit of pitching took another twist for the Texas Rangers Sunday. Right-hander Neftali Feliz, who was slated to make his fourth rehab start for Triple A Round Rock, was scratched from the outing because of soreness in his right elbow. The club is awaiting word from the team's medical staff to decide on the next step for Feliz, who is on the disabled list with a sprained right UCL. Despite the Feliz setback, the Rangers are going forward with their plans to stretch out right-hander Alexi Ogando. Ogando, who pitched 2 23 innings Friday, is a potential starting candidate especially if the Rangers can't make a trade before Tuesday's deadline for starting pitching. "We get Ogando stretched out," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "We don't actually know what we're going to do but we're just trying to keep our options open." Had Feliz remained healthy, the club could have put him in the bullpen when he was ready to go and move Alexi Ogando into the rotation spot currently being held by Scott Feldman. The club would have been comfortable doing that and staying out of the trade market for pitching. Now the Rangers aren't sure what they're going to do with Ogando. "We can't clone him (Ogando)," Texas general manager Jon Daniels said. "We have to find the best way to deploy him." Daniels also said that the Feliz injury won't change the club's approach at the trade deadline. "It doesn't change what we're necessarily willing to do," he said.
