Few Marlins fans show to purchase tickets
Today, single game tickets for Miami Marlins games are going on sale at the team's Winter Warm Up event, which starts at 10 AM. At 9:38 AM, Marilns beat writer Joe Capozzi tweeted out this picture of the line for single game ticket sales, just 22 minutes before the tickets go on sale. Oh. About that. I think the four people in line will be able to sit wherever they want...
Miami Marlins Fans in No Hurry to Buy Tickets
[@joecapMARLINS]
After bringing in some high-priced free agent talent, opening a new stadium (of which the tax payers footed a lot of the bill for), and changing their name from the 'Florida' Marlins to the 'Miami' Marlins hopes were high. Instead what they had was the team's worst season this millennium.
To make mattes worse, the team basically sold...
Seattle just lost their minds
Felix Hernandez is an incredible pitcher. I'd take Clayton Kershaw over him, sure, and maybe Matt Cain. Other than that, though, Felix might be the most valuable pitcher in the game today.
That being said, he's not worth 7 years and $25 million a year. No pitcher is (or, I should say, was), unless he is vintage Pedro or Maddux. Unfortunately (for the Mariners), that's...
On Felix Hernandez’s 7-year, $175 Million Extension with the Seattle Mariners
With all the things going on in the baseball world right now that aren’t shining endorsements and feel good stories for our favorite sport, Felix Hernandez signing a long contract extension with the Mariners is good for baseball.
Last summer there was some sentiment that the Mariners should try to trade King Felix and get what return they could on the 27-year old pitcher who...
Comparing Jon Garland to a current MLB manager
The Seattle Mariners signed free agent pitcher Jon Garland to a minor league contract, starting an attempted comeback of a pitcher who hasn’t seen the MLB mound since the middle of the 2011 season. The Mariners have also added former Detroit Tigers RHP Jeremy Bonderman, who has not pitched in the major leagues since 2010. From the years of 2002 through 2010, Garland made 32 starts...
Mariners Agree to 7-Year $175 Million Deal with Felix Hernandez
Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez just became an extremely wealthy man. According to USA Today, Felix and the Mariners agreed to a 7-year, $175 million deal earlier today. The deal will make Hernandez the highest paid pitcher in MLB history. Hernandez was scheduled to earn $19.5 million in 2013 and $20 million in ’14. [...]
King Felix is Deservedly the Highest Paid Pitcher In MLB Now
Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has agreed to a seven-year, $175 million contract that should be finalized before spring training, making him the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history, a person familiar with the contract details told USA TODAY Sports. Hernandez was scheduled to earn $19.5 million in 2013 and $20 million in ’14. Instead, his new contract will take effect...
Sources: M's, Saunders reach deal
The Seattle Mariners aren't just focused on locking up ace right-hander Felix Hernandez with a seven-year, $175 million contract.
The team also has reached agreement with free-agent left-hander Joe Saunders on a one-year deal, according to major-league sources.
The deal is pending a physical, sources said.
Saunders, 31, will replace lefty Jason Vargas, whom the Mariners traded...
M’s Give Felix a King’s Ransom
The Seattle Mariners signed franchise ace Felix Hernandez to a 5-year, $135-million extension this week. It’s a lot of money, and it could be argued perhaps that the Mariners overpaid. It’s a weak argument. Hernandez is worth every penny. Give credit to GM Jack Zduriencik for trying to breathe life into a franchise [...]
King Felix Is Not Adam Wainwright
The Seattle Mariners extended Felix Hernandez‘s contract on Thursday and many St. Louis Cardinal fans reacted quickly, feeling Adam Wainwright‘s price tag just went up. The problem with that thought is simple, Hernandez is no Wainwright, he’s much, much better.
Hernandez agreed to a deal that will keep him in Seattle for a reported financial windfall to the tune of seven...
Here's To The Future

Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, and yes, even Alex Rodriguez. The Mariners have made a habit in the past of failing to re-sign their superstars. Instead, they’ve opted to trade or even let them walk away via free agency. Yes, the return trade package has been decent in a couple instances (see Randy Johnson to Astros). But nothing can...
Felix Signs Long Term
The day all Mariners fans have been waiting for. The day that they are not seeing one of the faces of the franchise leaving, A-rod, Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey. Just to name a few. This is the day that Felix Hernandez signs a huge contract extension that will “Make him a Mariner for life”. This is so exciting because now we have the feeling that the team will be able to build...
