Joey Votto (Photo credit: Wikipedia) When it comes to fantasy baseball draft day, I have tried many different strategies over the years. Many people will tell you that you need a ‘big bopper’ at first base to have a truly balanced line up. Although you can win your league in a number of ways, having a big bat in the first base slot in your line-up really makes a difference. First base is the one position where defense is almost an afterthought on the field. As a result, most teams have a player slotted in at first that can really handle the bat. It helps on the field and it helps in fantasy. Trust me, you can win without a huge bat at first (and I have done it) but it makes your life a lot easier having a big-time fantasy contributor manning the 1B slot on your roster. Here are some of the best to consider for the 2013 season: Albert Pujols (LAA) – Don’t let that miserable start to his Angels career last year sway you. After June 1st, Prince Albert was up to his old tricks a...

Here is their list: Billy Hamilton, SS Robert Stephenson, RHP Tony Cingrani, LHP...

Law pegs Aroldis Chapman as one of top MLB players under age of 25

It's no secret, folks, the Reds MLB roster is loaded with young talent under the age of 30. Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Todd Frazier, Devin Mesoraco, Mike Leake, Jonathan Broxton, and Zack Cozart are just a few of the players who fit that bill. Hey, don't worry, I didn't forget about 24-year-old Aroldis Chapman. And neither did ESPN's...

Reds Caravan is coming to town

A couple weeks after that it’ll be pitchers and catchers reporting, then the drama of who’s going to make the roster, then, before you know it, Opening Day. Friday Five: A little bit of everything.

Does Homer Bailey have any upside? Photo by Keith Allison. Just a few short months ago Friday Five was a weekly feature at Crackerjacks. Each week I’d share 5 fantasy baseball links that I thought were interesting or informative. I got busy is the only excuse I have. I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to have a Friday Five ready to go each friday, but I have one today. Do I make...

Jake McGee Drops Arm Slot, Elevates Game

After Aroldis Chapman, it’s easy to argue Tampa Bay’s Jake McGee was the league’s best left-handed relief pitcher last season. He recorded a 1.95 ERA (third behind Chapman and Eric O’Flaherty) and a 1.81 FIP (second behind Chapman) over 55.1 innings for the Rays. He racked up 73 strikeouts against just 11 walks (6.6 K/BB) in the always-tough AL East, and he did so with mastery...

2012 Season in Review: Ryan Wright

Ryan Wright came into the 2012 season with some intrigue after a good showing in 2011 after being drafted in the 5th round. The Reds sent him to Dayton where he was the regular second baseman to begin the season. Wright began the season with a 5 game hitting streak before going hitless over the next two games. He would go on to hit .277/.346/.362 during the month with good plate...
