Is this Mike Trout sending a message to second-year compatriot Bryce Harper, ala mob bosses of old? Or are the ospreys in Florida unhappy about the way the Nationals finished last season? Motive is hard to judge in this case, but at least this much is known: A bird flying over the Washington Nationals’ spring training practice Thursday in Viera, Fla., dropped a fish onto the field. Denard Span and Brad Horn started making noises to keep the bird from coming back for its supper. “I was kind of squealing a little bit,” Horn said, according to The Washington Post. “I kept thinking, that’s his dinner. That’s his food. As I was looking down at the fish, I didn’t want him to think that I was trying to take his dinner and have the bird come from behind me or come from the sky and try to attack me.” Span was more concerned with the bird’s fielding. “I’ll tell you what, that bi...

Fish falls from sky disrupting Nationals practice

Normally in spring training the only things that fall from the sky are fly balls; however, the Washington Nationals witnessed the unusual…..a falling fish. Chad Cordero to Attempt Comeback with Angels

They called him The Chief.  Chad Cordero was the first star of the Washington Nationals.  2005, the Nats inaugural season in the Nations' Capitol, saw him lead the National League with 47 saves, buoyed by a 0.969 WHIP.  However, by 2007, arm troubles beset the likable reliever, and by age 28, his career was over. Nearing his 31 birthday, Cordero, according to Los...

Mike Trout, A Player That Dreams Are Made Of

Sticking with our theme of the day, I must come clean. I love baseball, I love watching baseball, and I enjoy watching players who are not members of my favorite team. But there is one player in particular who gives me the chills every time I see him play. The year was 2008, the Chicago Cubs finished with the second best record in all of baseball and due to the supplemental draft...

Jon Lester Is No Mike Trout, But He’s Not Bad at Catching Fish, Either (Photo)

Jon Lester and his fellow Red Sox pitchers are working their way back to Opening Day form, but even spring training leaves them time for other activities. On Wednesday, Lester apparently spent that free time working on his fishing, and he had quite a successful outing. Now, the catch is not as big as the 500-pounder the Angels’ Mike Trout reeled in, but Lester’s catch is still...

The Royals And Latin America

As we all know, Kansas City has carried a dismal baseball franchise since 1985. But as spring training rolls around, we have to again acknowledge how well the Royals have done in the Latin American talent market.
