Scary news for San Francisco Giants fans: a bus carrying many of their Minor League players was involved in a crash this morning in Scottsdale, Arizona, as it was headed to the team hotel and training facility. Thankfully, none of the 11 Minor Leaguers (or the driver) were injured, though five prospects were taken to the Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center. All five were in the team hotel relaxing comfortably and safely by the end of the day. Among those taken to the medical center was prized pitching prospect Adalberto Mejia; the other four players were Bryce Bandilla, Dan Slania, Jeff Soptic, and Kelby Tomlinson. A few hours after the event, Bandilla tweeted: Everyone is okay from this morning! Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts — Bryce Bandilla (@bandilla23) December 3, 2013 Prized outfielder Mac Williamson and pitching prospect Clayton Blackburn and – who were on the bus but not sent to the medical facility – tweeted similar ...

Where in the world is Pablo Sandoval?

Earlier today, while listening to KNBR, Larry Krueger touched base about Pablo Sandoval getting in shape. What?!? How is that possible? I haven’t heard anything about him. I’m even the biggest trade rumor nut on the planet! The last  we heard about Pablo Sandoval was his name being tossed around on the trading block. As we all know, this is Sandoval’s last year before...

Giants Cut Sandy Rosario and Francisco Peguero

The Giants made a little bit of a surprising roster move today, cutting reliever Sandy Rosario. The San Francisco Giants entered the offseason with two major needs: starting pitchers, and a left fielder. Whether you agree with their signings or not, the team certainly handled the starting pitcher problem, re-signing Tim Lincecum and Ryan Vogelsong, while nabbing a top free agent pitcher in Tim Hudson. You can check that one off the offseason to do list! But left...

Q&A: Kyle Crick, San Francisco Giants Pitching Prospect

Kyle Crick isn’t a nibbler. The 6-foot-4 right-hander’s approach is to attack hitters, and while his command isn’t where it should be, he’s going about things the right way. In 14 starts this year for high-A San Jose — an oblique injury kept him on the shelf for part of the season — he logged a 1.57 ERA and struck out 12.5 batters per nine innings. Crick is a power pitcher...
