Florida Marlins: Dan Meyer designated after five-walk outing, Jorge Sosa selected

The Marlins added two new pitchers to the bullpen mix before Thursday’s game. Another is on the way. After a painful performance in which he walked five and allowed three runs during a 43-pitch eighth inning, the Marlins effective Friday will designate left-hander Dan Meyer for assignment and select right-hander Jorge Sosa from Triple-A New Orleans. The Marlins have 10 days to trade Meyer, release him or outright him to the minors if he clears waivers. “I have a lot to figure out,” Meyer said. “It’s tough to swallow, but I have to be a man about it.
