Had a chance over the weekend to listen to Jonah Keri’s podcast with Logan Morrison. Keri, who posted it on Thursday, broached just about every relevant subject with Morrison, from his demotion last season to his Twitter habits to the possibility he might get traded this winter. Buster Olney floated the idea the Marlins could dangle Morrison for Tampa Bay right-hander James Shields. Not all that crazy about putting Morrison in that deal. Now, if the Athletics were to offer lefty Gio Gonzalez for Morrison, that would demand serious consideration. I think Morrison is going to be an outstanding player and I’d hate to lose his bat, but the Hialeah-born Gonzalez just turned 26 in September and would be a solid No. 2 starter behind Josh Johnson for a lot of years. I’m still not convinced the Athletics make Gonzalez available. He should qualify for arbitration this season for the first time as a Super 2, so his salary should remain reasonable for a couple more seasons. The second half of K...
