The Marlins on Wednesday activated sidelined reliever Ryan Webb from the disabled list and placed Brian Sanches on the disabled list with a right elbow strain. Sanches has not appeared in a game since Aug. 9, when he tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings with no walks and three strikeouts against the Braves. Since the Marlins asked him to fall on the sword July 5 against the Phillies (three innings, seven hits, six runs, 78 pitches), Sanches has allowed two earned runs over 14 innings. Webb, who will have an opportunity to face his former team this weekend in San Diego, has not pitched since June 26 at Seattle. He was diagnosed with shoulder inflammation.
