Florida Marlins: Strong-armed outfielder Brett Carroll signs with Kansas City

Day two of the General Managers meetings at the posh Waldorf Astoria in Orlando. Still recovering from Tuesday’s Dan Uggla trade. He’s vacationing in Mexico, but we’ll continue trying to reach him and get his thoughts on moving north to the Atlanta Braves. Ideally, the Marlins will announce the John Buck deal at some point today. A physical may be all that’s left to make the three-year pact official. ** Exchanged text messages with outfielder Brett Carroll late Tuesday night. He was a minor league free agent and agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals. I really liked Carroll as a fourth outfielder. Don’t think there’s a better throwing arm in the game right now. Carroll just needed a fresh start. He was on the that Triple-A shuttle for while,  had to deal with some injuries, and never settled in to that reserve outfielder role.
