Chris Coste will be contributing to Comcast SportsNet for the Phillies Pregame Live and Postgame Live shows this season as an in-studio analyst.
Coste joined the major leagues in 2006 after an 11-season trek in the minor leagues. He batted .328 as a rookie, and was a key backup for three seasons, including the 2008 world championship team.
The Phillies released Coste early in the 2009 season. He was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros and played a little bit of first base after Lance Berkman was injured.
He signed with the New York Mets in November of 2009 but was soon released. He also signed with the Washington Nationals in March of 2010 but was released in June.
He is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery but says he would still like to play baseball again, hopefully this season. He told the North Dakota newspaper The Dickinson Press that he will be fully healthy by June.
