After being released from the Philadelphia Phillies last spring, J.C. Romero latched on with the Washington Nationals, New York Yankees, and Colorado Rockies late in 2011.
Romero’s new team for 2012 will be the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. He was 1-0 with a 4.01 ERA in 36 games in the major leagues last year.
Romero struggled with his control in 2011, walking 15 batters in 24.2 innings. He was still remarkably effective as a LOOGY, holding left-handed hitters to a .231 slugging percentage and .549 OPS in 46 plate appearances.
