Jason WhitneyCould Kevin Youkilis be the Yankees third basemen to start next season? Could Brian Cashman bring in yet another former player from their arch nemesis Boston Red Sox? With the recent news of Alex Rodriguez being out for four to six months, the Yankees are now forced to bring in a third basemen that can hold down the fort while A-Rod is out. History doesn’t let us forget about Babe Ruth, but more recently Wade Boggs,  Johnny Damon and Derek Lowe have all come to the Bronx to play for the New York Yankees. Kevin Youkilis was traded to the Chicago White Sox last season after a miserable first half of the year with Boston. He hit .235 with 19 home runs and drove in 60 RBIs combined between the two teams. Via NY Daily News: Brian Cashman has been in contact with the agent for the former Red Sox third baseman, putting the possibility in play that another former Yankees nemesis could wind up wearing pinstripes in the Bronx. Cashman said he’s “just looking to someone who can get there for three months at the very least,” though ideally he would prefer a player he could play the entire year. Given the lack of third base depth on the free agent market — in addition to Youkilis, the other interesting names include Jeff Keppinger, Marco Scutaro and Ian Stewart — Cashman could be forced to bring in a pair of players and use a platoon in A-Rod’s absence. Eric Chavez has decided to play again next season, but he isn’t likely to be an everyday player given his injury history. Sports-Kings - The Kings of Sports Lists

Alex Rodriguez: Exploring A-Rod’s 2013 Fantasy Baseball Value

There’s been a lot of wear on A-Rod’s hips over the years. Photo courtesy of flickr. The fantasy baseball value of Alex Rodriguez has certainly changed a lot over the last few seasons. At one point in his career, A-Rod was as elite as there was in the fantasy game, as a Triple Crown threat in a good lineup who could still nab between 15-25 steals a year, from the third base position...

Derek Jeter and the Hunt for Opening Day

Unfortunately, the best news to come out of the winter meetings so far is that Derek Jeter believes he should be ready for Opening Day.
