Zach Varce is junior rhp from the University of Portland. He is 6-0/190 pounds and hails from Seattle. Last year for Portland, he went 3-5, with a 2.69 era in 60 innings. He saved 9 games, walked 23 and struck out 62 batters.He spent this past summer playing for the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League. He was simply one of the best pitchers in the league. He went 3-5, with a 1.93 era in 74.2 innings pitched. He saved one game, gave up 50 hits, walked 20 and lead the league with 105 k's. 11 of his 18 appearances were starts for the Bullfrogs. He also struck out 2 batters in his 1 inning of work during the All-Star game.
