PLAYERS: Alexi Ogando
TEAMS: Texas Rangers
On Wednesday, Rangers pitcher Alexi Ogando made it to the sixth inning with a no-hitter going and FOX wasn’t going to risk jinxing it. When they flashed a graphic of the box score as they returned during the bottom of the sixth the local Fox affiliate folks put in there a very funny line saving them from some blame if Ogando were to lose it. Ogando of course went ahead and lost the no-no in the bottom of the sixth. You can check out below what the graphic said. [Buzzfeed] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Rangers scratch Kinsler with bruised ribs

ARLINGTON, Texas Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington was looking for a way to get Ian Kinsler a day off. Bruised ribs weren't in the plans though. Kinsler was a late scratch Friday because of bruised ribs. Kinsler first hurt his ribs last weekend during a series in Houston when he was hit by a ball while trying to steal second base. He aggravated the injury Thursday night...

Fox Sports Southwest "jinxes" Alexi Ogando no-hit bid with graphic (Picture)

Earlier today, Texas Rangers pitcher Alexi Ogando lost a no-hitter in the sixth inning against the Oakland Athletics and the fine folks over at Fox Sports Southwest might have had something to do with it. Before the start of the 6th inning, the below score box graphic was shown and take a look at the "no-hitter" reference in the first line: As you might figure...

Texas Rangers’ David Murphy Continues To Struggle

This was supposed to be the year of David Murphy. After several seasons as serving as the Texas Rangers fourth outfielder, last season was finally Murphy’s first shot at a regular starting role. Many hoped that a second season as a starter coupled with 2013 being the final year of his contract, that Murphy would exceed last year’s success. If the thirty one year old could piece...

Ian Kinsler Stumbles, Faceplants Into Bag While Trying to Slide Into Third Base (GIF)

Before going any further, it needs to be said that Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler is a very good baserunner. Over the course of his eight-year career he’s stolen 160 bases and been caught just 33 times for a solid 83 percent success rate. He’s also generally known around baseball as a “heads-up” baserunner, rarely making a miscue or running into a giveaway out. All that...

A.J. Pierzynski could rejoin Rangers Tuesday

When the Texas Rangers initially placed catcher A.J. Pierzynski on the disabled list with an oblique injury, the veteran backstop was frustrated by the move. However, Pierzynski now admits that he "probably shouldn't have kept playing" through the pain, as he's now revealed that he's been dealing with a torn oblique, not a strain as originally thought. Even...

Cruz’ home run, catch help Rangers to victory

Admittedly, I’ve been worried about Nelson Cruz this season.  Some of that worry was for his bat, but most of it was for his glove.   Today, he presented strong evidence that I need not worry about him just yet. In the afternoon finale of the Oakland series, Cruz made a spectacular catch and hit a three-run home run.  Cruz’ heroics helped Alexi Ogando secure his fourth win...

Rangers manager defends heavy use of Yu Darvish

Ron Washington was not about to question himself Friday over Yu Darvish's recent workload. Especially since Darvish felt fine after throwing a career-high 130 pitches Thursday night against the Detroit Tigers. The Texas manager had no qualms about sending his ace back to the mound in the eighth inning against the Detroit Tigers even though the Rangers had a 10-4 lead. '...

Soto's smash sends Verlander to the showers

ARLINGTON, Texas Geovany Soto's three-run homer Thursday off Detroit ace Justin Verlander is one he will tell his grandkids about. Just ask him. "Hell, yeah," Soto said. "No, but it felt good. Spending so much time in the National League, you only get to see these guys on TV. Once you get to face them, you're like, "Wow!" It felt good." It...

Ian Kinsler with worst head-first slide in baseball history, tries to eat base

Somebody needs to help Ian Kinsler out with his sliding form, because this head-first gem isn't right at all.

Video: Nelson Cruz makes diving catch to rob Brandon Moss of hit

Tweet   We may not see a catch made by an outfielder for the rest of the season better than the one Ben Revere made last month against the Cincinnati Reds. Or maybe we will. Wednesday, during the Texas Rangers’ 6-2 victory over the Oakland A’s, Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz made a pretty impressive [...]
