Just your average Tuesday as the San Francisco Giants made a flurry of roster moves before tonight’s starting lineup was announced at AT&T Park.
As earlier reported, the Giants signed Jeff Francoeur to a minor league contract. The outfielder will report to triple-A Fresno and start in left field tonight for the Grizzlies. Francoeur hit .208 (38-for-183) with three home runs and 13 RBI for the Kansas City Royals this season.
Two players were brought up from Fresno: The Giants bought the contract of Kensuke Tanaka and brought back LHP Mike Kickham to serve as a long reliever.
The 32-year-old Tanaka batted .378 (34-for-90) in his last 29 games with Fresno and led the Grizzlies with 20 stolen bases. Fielding has been an issue; Tanaka was tied for third in the Pacific Coast League with 16 errors in 78 games.
