Franklin Stubbs was a starting first baseman on a World Series Champion. They won the 88 series when Stubbs hit ,223 for the season, with 8 home runs. Thttp://7is.neswblogs.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4284&action=edit&message=10hings have changed.
Stubbs was a decent enough hitter, I guess, with a career average of 18 homeruns a season, but he wasn’t ever able codger up a career average much higher than that .223 during the Dodgers’ World Series run. But for him, it wasn’t about the bat. He only had 5 errors for his entire career with the Dodgers. Of course, he played first base. You don’t see many teams pining for Doug Mientkiewicz, do you?
As one could probably imagine, Stubbs turned his light stick in the mid 90s when home runs came in vogue. Of course, Stubbs is now a minor league hitting coach, spending his time in Chattanooga with the Lookouts.
