Mets Merized Online:
Check out the cool duds that Brandon Nimmo will be wearing for the Futures Game on Sunday, July 14th at Citi Field. MMO will be heavily represented with no less than five of us in attendance.
Nimmo won a final fan vote to put him on the USA Team along with fellow Mets prospect, righthander Noah Syndergaard. Rafael Montero was named to the World Team in what promises to be a special event for Mets fans.
Full rosters for the U.S. and World teams can be found at MiLB.com.
Last year, the U.S. Team defeated the World team 17-5 on the strength of a record nine-run sixth inning. Be sure to tune into ESPN2 at 2:00 PM on Sunday and catch a glimpse of tomorrow’s stars.
BEST OF MAXIM
Over the past month the Mets have looked like a different team. The addition of Eric Young, Jr. provided some life to an otherwise ghastly outfield. The move has been celebrated amongst most of the mainstream media, from Mike Francesca, Boomer and Carton to the Mets blogosphere, including Metsblog.com. Most of the staff here at Mets360 seem to like the acquisition too. Young coming...
As many expected, Major League Baseball announced that Mets prospects Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero will start the Futures Game at Citi Field tomorrow,
Syndergaard will start for the U.S. Team, while Montero opposes him for the World Team. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

If you were wondering how Mets first baseman Ike Davis was doing since the team decided to re-call him from his two week exile at Triple-A Las Vegas, the short answer is – not too good.
Davis is batting .200 since his call-up and has struck-out four times in his last 12 at-bats including a critical one with runners on second and third in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Pirates...
There is a likeable quality to New York Mets pitcher Jeremy Hefner. He’s modest and unassuming, and has been stand-up in the bad times.
However, recently it’s been good times for Hefner, Friday’s starter in Pittsburgh, who will be trying for his eighth straight strong outing. Hefner is coming off a one-run performance in seven innings last weekend in Milwaukee. Hefner has 12...
SPIN DOWN AGAIN, THIS TIME MIGHT BE FOR GOOD…
It’s been inevitable for more than a month, but the Mets finally pulled the plug on Jordany Valdespin after Saturday’s game and demoted him to Tripe-A Las Vegas to make room for reliever Scott Atchison will join the team today.
Valdespin had not started a game since June 22 and has failed to produce in a reduced role as a pinch...
Lynn Worthy, beat writer for the Binghamton Mets, reported that Jenrry Mejia pitched five scoreless innings in a rehab start on Saturday night for the B-Mets.
Mejia, pitched the second game of doubleheader against the Portland Sea Dogs and limited them to just three hits and two walks in five scoreless innings while striking out one. The one-time top pitching prospect for the Mets...
The New York Mets are in the most envious of positions for the sellers of Major League Baseball; they have a plan. New York is sticking to its rebuilding plan and with the emergence of starters like Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey and the long-term signing of franchise player, David Wright, the Mets have light at the end of a dismal tunnel.
In the next couple of years the Mets could...
Andy Martino of the Daily News, spoke to a person with direct knowledge of the team’s thinking who said that the Mets are more likely to keep Marlon Byrd this summer, rather than trade him before the Trade Deadline on July 31.
We can debate the pros and cons of that, but I want to discuss Byrd in a different context for now.
When you think about a player that deserves to be MLB...
The New York Mets lost their second straight game to the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 4-2 tonight in front of a packed house at PNC Park.
The Mets actually got on the board first, scoring a run in the fourth inning on a walk by Marlon Byrd followed by an RBI-double by Kirk Nieuwenhuis. They came back in the fifth and scored their second and final run of the game when Byrd came...
The Futures Game Was Bright With Syndergaard, Montero and Nimmo On Hand
Well that was fun..
The game’s best young prospects converged on Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, to take part in the Futures Game, where the U.S. Team defeated the World Team by a score of 4-2.
As for the good guys, Noah Syndergaard started for the U.S. Team and allowed one hit in his inning of work...
Bobby Parnell hasn’t been pitching long. As he puts it, he “played a position” when he was little, and hit the mound for the first time in college. Because he threw hard, he kept climbing that mound for three years, was drafted, shuttled through the Mets minor league system, and plunked into his role as a late-game reliever in New York.
Some things — like that gas — stayed...

Come on guys. Let’s win a series before the break. Stop losing ground. Stop the slide. Give everyone some hope going into the All Star Break. The mood is too gloomy for my liking. Just a little dash of positivity. Maybe that little bit will help clear up the case of PTSD Pirates fans are…
All of a sudden people are feeling a lot better about the Pirates again after an exciting walkoff win over the Mets Friday night at sold out PNC Park. The Bucs have won two in a row and certainly appear to have put the four game losing streak in the rear view mirror.
Leading up to the game, all the talk was about Pedro Alvarez, David Wright, and the Home Run Derby “drama.” Pedro...
