Sons of Steve Garvey:
Charlie Haeger (0-1, 7.20) vs. Luis Atilano (0-0, -.--).
Gameday
COMMENTS: Luis Atilano. Traded for Daryle Ward. His first time in the bigs. Already has undergone elbow reconstruction. Replacing the injured Jason Marquis (who is 5-2, 2.29 ERA lifetime against the Dodgers). Normally, the Dodgers struggle against pitchers making their Major League debuts. But this isn't a normal Dodgers season.
Yes, there will be runs scored in today's game. Even with Manny Ramirez headed to the DL (to be replaced by Xavier Paul), the one thing the Dodgers have shown us over their first fifteen games is that they can mash. But can fifth starter Haeger spin more knucklemagic? Or will — heaven forbid — the bullpen be needed? Because if the relievers cough up another lead, Dodger fans will be calling for blood.
