So much for that whole "Weaver's no-hitter igniting the team" thing.  The good vibes and the winning streak just went out the window as quickly as the came in last night thanks to the Halos running into the buzzsaw that was Brandon Morrow. Blue Jays 5, Angels 0 So, yeah, I'm going to go ahead an assume that this momentum-stopping shutout at the hands of Morrow was just the Angels running into the wrong pitcher on the wrong night.  That may not be the actual factual truth, but I am going to choose to believe it.  I'm tired of pulling my hair out over this team being so wildly overaggressive at the plate.  I mean, that is exactly what their problem is and they have done almost nothing to address it, but it is just so exhausting beating on that dead horse.  Therefore, I simply elect to give all credit to Morrow and assign no blame to the Angel hitters. Ignorance is bliss. Game Notes I warned you, didn't I?  That nine-run outburst brought about another...

Jered Weaver's no-hitter might be what saves the Angels' season

Call it cliche if you want.  You could even call it trite or hackneyed if you really wanted to be petty about it.  But, yes, Jered Weaver might very well have saved the Angels' season with his no-hitter last night. I'm was almost hesitant to write that myself because it seems like such an over-reaching statement, but the more I think about it, the more I just can't...

Albert Pujols is Booed

A man in a new uniform How quickly things change. How quickly fans turn. Just last October, Albert Pujols was celebrating his second World Series Championship, and as the best player, on the world’s best team, Pujols sat on top of the baseball world. All the Twins could muster against the two-time All-Star was one walk - and one other baserunner when...

Dodgers sign OF Bobby Abreu

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Bobby Abreu one week after the Angels cut the slumping outfielder. Abreu hit .208 in 24 at-bats before the last-place Angels let him go last Friday. He didn't have to go very far to find another job, opting for a reserve role with the NL West-leading Dodgers. The 38-year-old Abreu is in the last season of a $27 million, three-year contract...

Weaver's hometown career culminates with no-hitter

Dave Weaver was in his usual seat, 20 rows behind home plate, drinking a beer and shouting instructions to his son in the quiet lulls between pitches. His wife, Gail, was alongside him, calmly enjoying a little night baseball. It really could have been any night in three lives filled with similar evenings at ballparks all across Southern California. Instead, Jered Weaver made an...
