Monkey with a Halo:
This is a weird time of the season. Over the course of today I was routing for the Red Sox, Yankees and Mariners. This is the kind of thing that makes a Halo fan break out in hives. But in order for the Angels to make the playoffs, we all have to get a little dirty with our set of bedfellows. But non of it matters if the Angels don't take care of their own business. Tonight, they kept up up their end of the bargain and got some Yankee help to pull within 2 1/12 games from the wildcard. Things are getting stranger by the minute.
Angels 4 White Sox 2
-- Finally, Albert Pujols does something in the clutch. His double in the first got the Angels on the board, which has been a key part of any Angel win. I cannot state how important Albert will be in the last two weeks. This is the time when big time players are supposed to deliver.
-- At some point, the Angel's base running brain cramps are going to rear their head at the wrong time. I just hope it doesn't cost them dearly.
-- Additionally, their LOBster effect is also a potential season ender. At one point the bases where loaded with one out and the they got nothing for it. When you have a chance to step on the other team's throat you have to. Letting good teams hang around is never a recipe for success.
-- Glad to see Ernesto Frieri get back on the beam with a solid ninth inning. After a couple really rough outings, Ernasty was a strong presence on the hill and shut the door on a White Sox rally.
This was the epitome of a team win so the Halo Hero goes to the whole team. Starting Pitching (Dan Haren with 6 strong), Check. Shutdown Bullpen work (Richards, Downs, Frieri), Check. Timely hitting, Check. Quality defense, Check.
Team, team, team. This is what they will need to do the rest of the way.

What does it take to make a great leader? Where does one gain his/her main experience managing people, especially under pressure? Upon whom does one rely as a manager?
AngelsWin.com recently had the opportunity to ask these questions to the Angels manager, Mike Scioscia. In a rare opportunity, we asked about...

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- For all anybody knows, Ervin Santana might be nearing the end of his Angels tenure. There could be one more start on his schedule, maybe two.
If his career in an Angels uniform is indeed about to end, he can be soothed by the fact he's going out with his best stuff.
In a season of inconsistency and unmet expectations, Santana is finishing with a flourish...
The way things are going for the Los Angeles Angels, it's difficult for Jered Weaver to focus on the fact that he is one victory away from his first 20-win season in the majors.
Then again, the only reason the Angels still have a shot at a postseason berth is because their ace keeps winning. Weaver kept them within striking distance in the AL wild-card chase, posting his league...
Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia and general manager Jerry Dipoto will return next season, team owner Arte Moreno said Saturday. "Regardless of what happens the next 11 games, Mike Scioscia will 100 percent return," Moreno told MLB.com. "I have told him. He wants to come back, I want him to come back. He's been the manager of the Angels for 13 years....
ANAHEIM, Calif. After coming so far and playing so well down the stretch, it's almost a shame that the Angels' fate is not in their own hands.
They've become scoreboard watchers, attentive not only to their games but also to the daily fortunes of the Oakland A's and Baltimore Orioles. A win isn't a win unless the A's or Orioles lose, too.

ANAHEIM, CA -- Everyone has a preferred learning style. Teachers talk about
audio-learners, visual-learners, and kinesthetic-learners: students who learn
best by hearing something, seeing something, or doing something. While some
people are multi-modal, most have one dominant learning style.
With that in mind, one interesting...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Dan Haren earned his first win at home in more than a month, Mark Trumbo capped a four-run first inning with a two-run single and the Los Angeles Angels beat the White Sox 4-2 on Saturday night, trimming Chicago's AL Central lead to a half-game over Detroit.
Haren (12-11) allowed two runs and six hits in six-plus innings, struck out four and walked one...
Jered Weaver kept the Los Angeles Angels within striking distance in the AL wild-card chase, posting his league-leading 19th victory on Sunday with a 4-1 decision over the struggling Chicago White Sox.
The White Sox lost their fifth in a row and led Detroit by a half-game in the AL Central. The Tigers lost the opener of their day-night doubleheader against Minnesota.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Ervin Santana struck out 11 while pitching seven innings of two-hit ball and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Friday night to gain ground in the playoff race.

Back in July, Torii Hunter mentioned that he wanted to return to the Angels next season or join the Yankees, Rangers or Dodgers. The Dodgers are no longer an option with an outfield of Matt Kemp Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford, but the Yankees and Rangers could potentially be options.
But Hunter is not shy about telling people where he wants to be next season as he told Alden Gonzalez...
As nearly every playoff race in the American League becomes closer, so does the MVP race between Angels outfielder Mike Trout and Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera. Going into Sunday's games, Cabrera is the clear favorite based on standard statistics. He leads the league in batting average, home runs and RBIs -- the Triple Crown categories. No one has won the Triple Crown since...
The Angels are messing with baseball's narrative. National writers want so badly to get on to the business of celebrating the A's and Orioles (and to be fair they have been quite remarkable), but the Angels simply will not go away. Didn't anyone tell them their shot at the playoffs is over? Why do they insist on just hanging around on the fringes with something akin...
