Pirates (48-37) at Brewers (40-45)

8:10 PM EST–Miller Park, Milwaukee

Here is the MLB.com Gameday

TV: ROOT Sports

This has to be the most excited anyone around here has been for a series at Miller Park in a while. The first-place Pirates haven’t been in action since Sunday and everyone’s itching to see them. Plus, the Brewers are on the fringe of falling out of the division race and could potentially be sellers this month. That could change if they play well this weekend and beyond, but the Bucs got past their Miller Park woes earlier this season, taking 2 of 3 there in early June.

Tonight’s starters…

James McDonald (9-3, 2.37) vs. Zack Greinke (9-3, 3.32)

Fun pitching matchup tonight. J-Mac will look to get off to a great start to the second half after a brilliant performance on Saturday against the Giants. It’s always a challenge to quiet the Brewer bats in their own yard, but James should be up for it, especially after an extra day of rest.

Greinke will be making history tonight; he’s starting for the Brewers three games in a row – the first time that’s happened since 1917. Why? Well, on Saturday in Houston he was ejected in the first inning after angrily spiking the ball on the ground following a close play at first…so he started again on Sunday (and only lasted three innings). Now he can start again after the four day break, and the Brewers will want to run him out there as much as possible because they may use him as an enormous trade chip. For now, though, he’s with Milwaukee and will be tough to beat; he’s undefeated at Miller Park in his time as a Brewer.
