Colorado Rockies (56-81) at Philadelphia Phillies (67-71)
Tyler Chatwood (4-4, 5.53 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels (14-6, 3.04)
Time: 7:05 p.m. Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Strong Storms, 76
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Media: Twitter and Facebook
The Phillies enjoyed a nice come from behind victory last night. Despite the victory, the Phillies couldn’t do too much damage against a struggling pitcher. They will be facing another pitcher with poor numbers tonight: Tyler Chatwood.
Cole Hamels wasn’t his best in his last start, but he continues to have a terrific season. Hamels faced the Rockies on June 19 and pitched 8 strong innings, allowing just two runs.
Strong storms are expected at game time, so we’ll see if the Phillies can get this one in or not.
Your Gameday Beer – Birra Moretti
We’re going with an easy drinker. This Italian Pilsner has a crisp golden pour and similarly light flavor. It’s both bubbly and hoppy and since neither are overwhelming it makes for a nice party in your mouth. K...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Philadelphia Phillies entered play Saturday at 67-71 (Saturday’s game was rained out). They are only 4 games under .500, and 7 games out of the final Wild Card spot with 24 games to go. The Phillies and Rockies will now play a double header. First game will be at 1:05, the second at 6:35.
The Phillies activated catcher Carlos Ruiz from the disabled list on Friday. Ruiz had...
Wow, I did not see this coming.
As recently as last week, the Phillies seemed to indicate that Carlos Ruiz would not be back in 2012. Given the Phillies incredibly small odds of a postseason birth and the danger of playing on an injured ankle, I personally did not expect to see Chooch again in 2012.
But, according to CSN Philly.com, Ruiz has been activated from the disabled...
The Phillies won today. In fact, they won twice. In fact, they swept the series with the Rockies. In fact, they've won 7 of 9. They're just six games behind St. Louis for a playoff spot, and suddenly, instead of four teams between them, it's just two.
Now look, calm yourself now. The Phillies are 69-71. The team they just swept, Colorado, is awful. Like, one game from...

AT&T sponsored a "Win at Home" contest for Phillies fans last season. The top prize was to be a redesign of a family room and a barbecue with a Phillies player visit. This visit was from Kyle Kendrick. The winner was excited:
Fanning herself and repeatedly telling her friends how amazing it was to have Kendrick in her house,...
Photo: Philliedelphia/Kevin DursoThe Phillies pulled themselves together last night in the ninth to earn a 3-2 win against the Colorado Rockies. The first inning was not easy for Lee and the Phils, with the Rockies ahead 2-0 early on in the game.
The following six innings were uneventful, and the Phils finally started to show up in the Seventh. With two outs, Laynce Nix doubled...
Final: Rockies 2, Phillies 3.

Citizens Bank Park did not have too much energy as tonight's game got under way. Cliff Lee allowing two runs right away in the top of the first, and the Phillies failing to score in the bottom half after getting their first two runners on, definitely did not help that cause...
Last week, I had the opportunity to do a behind the scenes tour of Coors Field, in Denver. Actually, anyone can do the tour if you buy a ticket. I bought a $7 ticket and I took a look at the stadium that is one mile above sea level.
Coors Field is located in downtown Denver, near Interstate 25. There is also a light rail station nearby so accessibility is provided for people...
A muggy night in Philly brought about the start of a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. Cliff Lee was looking for his fifth win on the season, while the Phillies were looking to gain some ground in the wildcard race.
Cliff didn't have a simple first inning. Carlos Gonzalez doubled with Rutledge on base, bringing him around to score. Wilin Rosario singled after that...
The Phillies couldn’t do much at the plate against the Rockies Friday night, but they did enough to win the game, as they came back from a late 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 on a pinch-hit, RBI single by Nate Schierholtz. It was their 10th walk-off win of the season.
NOT THAT FRANCIS GUY AGAIN
I remember Jeff Francis from 2007 when he shut down the Phillies in the NLDS. He...
La Crosse, WISCONSIN The La Crosse Loggers Baseball Club announced today that former manager Andy McKay has been hired as the Coordinator of Mental Skills for the entire Colorado Rockies organization.
McKay, who had announced earlier this year that 2012 would be his fifth and final season in a Logger uniform, recently resigned his post as the head coach of the...
We may have just witnessed the farewell tour of Placido Polanco in Major League Baseball, as he was placed on the DL yet again. He certainly didn't garner the same amount of fanfare as Chipper Jones has this year in his final season. Of course Polly hasn't called it a career yet, that's merely speculation on my part. Polly's second tour of duty with the Phillies...
If you were hoping for a game with lots of hitting and lots of excitement, you watched the right ballgame this evening. After taking game one of this doubleheader with a walk-off victory, the Phillies were looking for a clean sweep of the Rockies tonight in game two.
The Phillies scored first this evening in the bottom of the second. Ty Wigginton scored on a single hit into center...
